Chapter 509 - Mechanical Wonder

Rurushi Ru didn't even wait for Noa to start the introduction, she curiously looked at the truck carrying building materials passing by and asked.

"That is a car, also called a motor vehicle. It is a vehicle that uses a mechanical structure to burn fuel to generate power," Noa replied calmly.

Although there is a floating spell that can make it easier to move things, there are too many building materials in Great Tree Village. If they were to rely only on floating spells, dozens of skilled spellcasters would be needed just to complete a single round of transport.

Moreover, spellcasting is never perfectly stable. Even a slight miscalculation, fatigue, or interruption in concentration can lead to misfires. In a busy construction environment, such risks are unacceptable, as they could cause materials to fall, collide, or even injure workers nearby.

Therefore, for efficiency, safety, and long-term stability, a mechanical transport system was introduced instead.

The truck bed itself had been reinforced and inscribed with a traceless expansion spell. This allowed it to carry far more building materials than its visible size suggested. What would normally require several trips and dozens of workers could now be completed in a single run, saving both time and energy while significantly improving overall construction efficiency.

In addition, the system was designed with environmental considerations in mind. Because the distance within Great Tree Village was not extensive, the exhaust output remained limited and manageable.

If anything, when comparing pollution sources, the large boilers used in Hephaestus's forge produced far more noticeable emissions than these vehicles.

"What about this one? Why are there words moving on it? What is it for?"

Rurushi Ru looked toward the engineering coordination department near the construction site and pointed at a large electronic screen mounted outside the building.

"That is an electronic scrolling screen. It is a technological device that uses electricity as its energy source. In principle, it is somewhat similar to an alchemy construct, but its internal mechanism is different," Noa explained. "It is mainly used for public announcements. It cycles through safety instructions, work schedules, and important notices so everyone on-site can see them clearly."

"So what are the boards they are holding? How can they talk to this thing?"

"That is a mobile communication device," Noa replied. "They use it to speak with someone on the other side who is also holding a similar device. It allows instant communication across distance without messengers or spell relay."

"What about the iron boxes outside these houses?"

Rurushi Ru's curiosity seemed endless. Her eyes moved quickly from one unfamiliar object to another, absorbing every detail of Great Tree Village. Unlike ordinary visitors who might feel overwhelmed or cautious, she instead showed an intense desire to understand everything she saw, as though trying to decode an entirely new system of civilization.

This was not simple curiosity alone. It resembled the habits of a researcher. Whenever she encountered something unfamiliar, she instinctively attempted to analyze it, categorize it, and compare it with known magical principles.

Even more interestingly, she was quietly recording everything into her magical database. Each explanation Noa gave was being structured and stored in real time, forming an organized archive of new knowledge.

Seeing this, Noa became slightly intrigued and asked about the nature of her ability. A continuously maintained mental database that persisted as long as the user lived was an extremely useful form of magic. It functioned like an indestructible archive—immune to physical damage, loss, or external interference.

In many ways, it was equivalent to carrying a permanent notebook that could be updated instantly through thought alone. Compared to traditional writing or even standard recording methods, its speed and efficiency were far superior.

Noa couldn't help but think that if this magic system were studied and refined further, it could evolve into something closer to a field of magical information science. With proper development, it might even replace conventional input tools entirely, becoming a direct bridge between thought and recorded knowledge.
