Masuzu rolled her eyes, her mind clearly churning with a devious idea.
"How about we settle this with a Yu-Gi-Oh match?"
"If I win, you have to lend me those cards."
"No way!" Ai rejected her instantly and without hesitation. "I'm no match for you, so why would I play? That's just volunteering to lose."
Masuzu wasn't ready to give up. "You can call for backup! As long as you can beat me, I'll return every single card I've ever borrowed!"
Hearing those words, Ai's resolve wavered. For years, her shameless cousin had used their family ties as an excuse to "borrow" her most priceless cards without ever returning a single one.
Ai used to own four Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards, but one was snatched by this scoundrel and hadn't been seen since. Even her Three Egyptian Gods collection was missing a vital piece: The Creator of Light, Horakhty.
In a single turn, if one can summon all three Egyptian Gods, they can merge into The Creator of Light for an instant victory! Because that card was missing, Ai's combination of the three Gods was now effectively useless.
Ai took a deep breath. Before long, she summoned her "husband," Ryunosuke, to help her crush this wretched cousin and win back her treasures!
Ryunosuke stared at them both with dead-fish eyes. Ai clung to his arm, swaying piteously as she coaxed him. "Ryunosuke-kun, please help me~ help me win my cards back~"
Seeing Ai looking so miserable, Ryunosuke finally caved and agreed. He also recognized the girl standing before them; he hadn't expected her to be Masuzu. Wait, so these two are cousins?
Masuzu took the opportunity to "borrow" Seto Kaiba's Blue-Eyes deck, while also snagging an Obelisk the Tormentor card under the pretext of using it for the duel. Ai trusted her blindly, never considering that her cousin might simply bolt with the deck if she lost. Masuzu's D-Wheel was practically idling for that very reason—if she won, she'd take the cards legitimately; if she lost, she'd just gun the engine and disappear.
Ryunosuke took the first-generation deck belonging to Muto Yugi and slotted two Egyptian God cards into it. He had entered serious mode.
Life Points (LP):
Ryunosuke: 4000
Masuzu: 4000
Masuzu smirked, shuffling her deck with practiced ease. Normally, decks are swapped for the opponent to shuffle to prevent cheating, but Ryunosuke underestimated her because she was his wife's cousin. He didn't expect Masuzu to stack her deck, rigging her One-Turn Kill (OTK) cards right at the top...
The match began, and Ryunosuke took the first turn!
"My turn, draw!"
"I activate the spell card Polymerization from my hand! Fusing Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts and Berfomet! Appear! Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast!!!"
The two-headed monster with wings sprouted into the arena.
(Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast – ATK: 2100)
"I set two cards facedown and end my turn!"
Masuzu's turn. "Draw!"
She immediately revealed the Pot of Greed she had rigged at the top of her deck.
"I activate Pot of Greed, drawing two more cards from my deck!"
At this point, Masuzu held seven cards in her hand.
"I summon Lord of D. to the field! Then, I activate two spell cards: The Flute of Summoning Dragon! Based on Lord of D.'s effect, while he is on the field, I can special summon up to two Dragon-type monsters from my hand regardless of their level! Since I have two flutes, that means four dragons!"
"I summon four Blue-Eyes White Dragons all at once!!!"
Masuzu brandished the four legendary dragon cards high in the air before slamming them onto the duel disk. Four massive white dragons materialized, filling the arena.
(Blue-Eyes White Dragon – ATK: 3000)
As mentioned before, the final Blue-Eyes card was indeed in Masuzu's possession. Now, she held all four.
Cold sweat trickled down Ryunosuke's forehead. He took a step back, a look of horror on his face. Dammit! What the hell is this? Did she even shuffle her deck?!!! There's no way someone naturally draws two flutes, one Lord of D., and four dragons in their opening hand.
Masuzu didn't care and immediately ordered the first Blue-Eyes to attack Chimera. Chimera was blown to bits. The difference in attack power drained Ryunosuke's LP.
(Ryunosuke LP: 4000 – 900 = 3100)
She wasn't done. Masuzu still had three dragons left. The second dragon launched a direct attack since Ryunosuke's field was empty. Ryunosuke quickly flipped his facedown card.
"Activate trap card! Nutrient Z! If I'm about to take 2000 or more damage, I recover 4000 LP before the damage calculation!"
A burst of white light enveloped Ryunosuke. His LP surged from 3100 to 7100, then took the 3000-point hit, dropping back to 4100. The third dragon attacked, and Ryunosuke's LP plummeted to 1100.
With only 1100 LP remaining and Masuzu still having one dragon left to attack, the situation was dire. Masuzu let out a manic laugh, sounding exactly like Seto Kaiba.
"Hahaha! Now, even the Gods themselves cannot save you!"
Masuzu waved her hand, commanding the fourth dragon to strike.
In that critical moment, Ryunosuke discarded Winged Kuriboh to the graveyard to activate its effect: reducing all battle damage this turn to zero. He managed to survive, his life hanging by a thread.
"Tch!" Masuzu huffed in annoyance, finding her opponent infuriatingly difficult to kill. She was forced to end her turn.
Because Lord of D. was summoned in defense position to activate the flutes, the monster couldn't attack. If it could have, Ryunosuke would have lost already. Furthermore, the most troublesome effect of Lord of D. was that as long as he was on the field, all of the opponent's dragons were immune to the effects of spells and traps.
