Silas was in deep thought. He understood and even agreed with Madam but taking lives was still something he had trouble with. That time with Beedrill was different, that was all adrenaline.
Madam carefully checked the bodies of the men for items and found that each had a storage pouch. She placed them all in her storage backpack along with the other valuables.
She tossed the pokeball from the second man to Silas after locking it. When the ball hit him, he snapped out of his deep thought and caught it before it hit the ground.
"Nice reflexes, at least your training seems to bear fruit." Madam was genuinely impressed with Silas. Most trainers neglect their own physical training which makes them huge liabilities in life and death struggles.
They quickly climbed on Arcanine and left the area after having Nidoqueen gather the bodies and placed them into one of the storage pouches.
The road stayed empty for several minutes after Madam and Silas left the area.
Two figures stepped out from opposite sides of the route, moving almost silently. Both wore dark cloth fitted close to the body, faces half-covered, eyes unreadable. Behind each of them hovered a Venomoth.
"She's more powerful than the report, thankfully those fools were effective tools.."
The second man, younger than the first, laughed at the remark.
"Master Shin is wise. All it took was a few words and they ran to their deaths."
The man called Shin smiled. He was a vain man so flattery was an effective tool to get on his good side.
"Micah, we must be careful with this duo. The mission objective is the priority, ideally we won't clash with anyone when the time comes. Let us go, there is much to prepare."
The men vanished the same way they appeared.
Meanwhile, Silas and Madam had finally stopped traveling when they arrived at the base of Mount Silver and made camp.
Madam warned Silas that the brutal training would begin now. Silasa would also be participating,
"While we are out here, I can show you ways to improve your fitness. There's a reason why my body is stronger than most people 30 years my junior."
Silas didn't hear a word Madam had said. He was deep in thought again. He had finally scanned the pokeball she had given him and didn't know how to proceed.
Dragonair — Level 58
Ability: Shed Skin
Potential: B-
Moves: Rank A Slam, Rank A Twister, Rank B Aqua Tail, Rank B Dragon Breath, Rank B Dragon Rage, Rank B Rain Dance, Rank B Dragon Rush, Rank B Dragon Dance, Rank C Protect, Rank C Light Screen, Rank C Thunder Wave, Rank C Thunder, Rank C Extremespeed, Rank D Hyperbeam
This was a high level pseudo-legendary pokemon! A Dragonair that knew Extremespeed was a deadly member of any team. Silas felt he couldn't keep Dragonair. It was potential and high level. True to its dragon heritage, it knew many moves as well.
He took out Madam's portable scanner device and put the pokeball in it. After a few minutes, he showed Madam the results. She had the same look Silas had earlier. He could tell that she regretted giving him the pokeball on a whim.
Silas handed the pokeball to her resolutely. "I lack the experience and power to have a pokemon like this, let alone tame it. Madam, you should take it."
Silas hadn't even contributed to the fight so how could he profit so much?
Madam was grateful to Silas and directly took the pokeball. She released Dragonair from the ball to tame it.
As soon as it materialized, Dragonair attacked indiscriminately with Thunder and Dragon Rage.
Madam's pokemon diffused every attack. This went on for a full 30 minutes before Dragonair got tired and calmed down. Madam spoke gently to it and even offered it an assortment of berries.
Dragonair was not tamed yet but at the very least it was cordial. There would be no further outbursts of attacks.
Once Madam showed off her cooking skills, Dragonair became even more tame. In the pokemon world, there are also regular animals like goats, chickens, cows, and fish like salmon and grouper.
Arcanine caught several deer and then Madam made a feast for everyone. The portable kitchen came in very handy. The smell of delicious food filled the air and it was a beacon for any hungry nocturnal pokemon.
"They're here. Silas this is your first training session. I will not interfere. Drive off these wild pokemon."
4 Ursaring came out of the woods into the clearing. They roared aggressively while eying the pot. 3 of them were lvl 25 with D+ talent. The leader was much more impressive.
Ursaring — Level 28
Ability: Guts
Potential: C
Moves: Rank B Slash, Rank B Growl, Rank C Bite, Rank C Lick, Rank C Close Combat, Rank D Belly Drum, Rank D Night Slash
Silas was very satisfied with the Ursaring despite the C talent. It had Belly Drum, Close Combat, and Night Slash. This combination of moves could threaten almost every pokemon.
Elekid and Monferno managed to knock out 2 of the Ursaring using Thunder Shock and Aura Sphere to disorient them then finish up by using Brick Break and Mach Punch repeatedly. The nearly daily stamina training was finally paying off.
However when they tried to use the Flame Wheel Brick Break combination, the lead Ursaring used Slash which overwhelmed Monferno.
It was already tired from repeatedly using Mach Punch to KO the weakest of the Ursaring earlier. Elekid noticed this and positioned itself in front of Monferno to allow it to recover.
"Elekid–Thunder Wave to slow them down."
Silas knew that Guts would increase Ursaring's attack power but he still took the gamble.
The lead Ursaring dodged but the other could not. The lead Ursaring unleashed Slash again but Monferno used its superior speed to dodge and get behind the Ursaring.
"Aura Sphere."
Monferno's attack was a direct hit. Elekid followed up with Brick Break. Its glowing fist slammed into Ursaring as it was getting back up, sending him crashing into the ground.
Elekid and Monfero combined an Aura Sphere and Thunder Shock to finish off the lead Ursaring but the other one jumped in front and used Slash on the incoming attacks in desperation.
This attack knocked out the Ursaring despite its tenacity. The leader Ursaring struggled valiantly in the 2 on 1 situation but it eventually fell to a combined Flame Wheel and Brick Break.
Silas caught all 4 Ursaring. Madam was ready to help Silas tame the pack when he released them from their balls. Surprisingly, the Ursaring were docile. They clearly respected Silas and his team for beating them despite it being 4 on 2.
The lead Ursaring just kept pointing towards the food and Silas finally got the hint. They just wanted to eat well, they were powerful but simple pokemon. The Ursaring left the camp for an hour and came back with 2 Teddiursa and even caught some additional deer for Madam to cook for them.
It was interesting to see the terrifying Ursaring interacting so calmly with everyone. The Ursaring ended up learning how to cook from Madam. Their food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either.
The Teddiursa were adorable and got along well with everyone as well. Elekid immediately became their big brother. They followed and copied everything he did.
After dinner, Silas and his pokemon resumed training. Monferno worked on perfecting Flamethrower and Acrobatics. Elekid was focused on Fire and Ice Punch.
Silas was not idle, Madam guided him in exercises that activate the body and over time strengthens it. Silas also found the time to review his breeder book and notes.
It would soon be time to start making pokeblocks and poffins.
