Chapter 207 - CH 207 — Silence of the Pack

The night did not breathe.

It lingered—thick, watchful, heavy with something ancient that pressed against bone and instinct alike. The forest surrounding the pack grounds stood unnaturally still, as though even the wind had withdrawn its presence out of quiet reverence… or fear.

The wolves felt it before they understood it.

A shift.

Not of sound. Not of movement.

Of authority.

It crept beneath their skin, subtle at first—like a whisper brushing against the spine—then settled deeper, heavier, undeniable. One by one, the pack stilled in their scattered positions. Conversations died mid-sentence. Laughter fractured into uneasy silence.

A young wolf near the eastern perimeter stiffened first. His breath caught halfway, chest tightening as if unseen fingers had curled around his lungs.

"What the hell…" he muttered under his breath, voice strained.

He did not understand why his knees felt weak.

Why his head… wanted to bow.
