Friday Evening Jayce Arrives.
Finding Jayce at the airport took me right to six in the evening. Still, I made it on time without trouble.
That kiss was his way of saying hi. Into my hands went the flowers. They were daisies. Just like I always liked.
He spoke softly, "Wish I'd seen you sooner.".
"Missed you too."
Back at my place we walked in quiet. A pause filled with nothing much. He mentioned how the plane ride went. Then stories from his days lately. I told him about sorting through papers late at night.
Just another day. Okay, sure. Even though each word I said felt like a lie.
I had no dinner arranged with Daniel for tomorrow evening.
Hunger gnawed at him, Jayce admitted when we stepped inside my place. Maybe pizza could be an option.
"Sure. Let me just grab my wallet. I think I left it in my work bag."
Inside the room, I took hold of my work bag sitting on the chair.
Unzipped it.
And froze.
Flying paper missing again.
