Chapter 103 - Chapter 103: Pincer Attack

"None of these people are the one?"

Chen Huijie frowned. little Flandre Scarlet nodded and said, "They don't have any murderous intent or the scent of blood on them, so they shouldn't be related to this case."

Flandre waved the book in her hand as she spoke. Chen Huijie looked over and saw that the little one was holding none other than a copy of the "Great Yan Penal Code."

"Why are you reading that?" Chen Huijie asked with a smile.

"Just curious!" Flandre expressed that since she was coming to help the Guard Department, understanding the Great Yan laws was a must.

Since the others hadn't returned yet, Flandre and Chen Huijie confirmed that there was no killer among these people—at least not the primary culprit—and headed back to the Major Crimes Unit first. At that moment, Beatrice Swire arrived carrying a small cake.

"little Flandre, I've brought you your dinner!"

Flandre happily took the dinner and sat down to eat heartily. After she finished eating and rested for a while, they received word that almost everyone sent out to bring people in had returned to the team. They went to continue the investigation.

The results of the investigation were disappointing. None of these people were involved either. The victim's close friend, in particular, broke into uncontrollable sobs upon hearing the news of the victim's death. She said her friend didn't like to drink, so she only had juice at the party last night. After the party, she had asked if they should head back together, but the victim said she wanted to take a walk outside to help her digestion, so they parted ways. She never expected that this parting would be their final goodbye.

"Everyone who attended the party is here... Is there really no killer among them?" Chen Huijie pondered for a moment and then asked, "What about the people investigating that couple? Are they not back yet?"

"Reporting to Madam Ch'en, the identities of the two have been clarified. Brother Wang took little Li over there," a Lungmen Guard Officer nearby said.

Chen Huijie's brow furrowed. "This won't do. If the killer isn't among those who attended the party, it's highly likely that the couple are the culprits. Brother Wang and the others don't know how dangerous they are. What if something happens!"

Saying this, she waved her hand. "A few of you come with me to back them up."

Flandre immediately expressed that she wanted to go as well. Soon, a police car drove up. Just as everyone was getting into the car, Beatrice, who had received the news, also slipped inside. Chen Huijie glanced at her but said nothing. After asking for the couple's address, she ordered the vehicle to head to the destination.

When the vehicle arrived at the residential area where the destination was located, seeing the car still parked there, everyone couldn't help but feel a tightening in their chests.

"Everyone get ready. The enemies this time are the lunatics from the Cult of Truth. If they resist, you are authorized to shoot to kill!"

Hearing Chen Huijie's words, the Lungmen Guard Officers who came along tightened their grip on their weapons. When the car door opened, the first out was the police riot shield, followed closely by the officers heading upstairs. It was dinner time, and many people had just finished work and returned home, so the residential area was bustling with people. The sudden appearance of fully armed Lungmen Guard Officers gave many people a fright. After all, the last time they had seen such a scene was in a counter-terrorism program on TV.

Arriving at the target's location on the fifth floor, they found the door tightly closed.

"There are four heartbeats in the room. Two of them are very weak, and two are retreating toward the back window." Flandre, who had just walked up, pointed in that direction and shouted.

Hearing the little one's words, Chen Huijie didn't say a word as she drew the long blade at her waist, stabbed it into the lock, and twisted it violently. She snapped the lock directly. Seeing this, the officer next to her kicked the door open, and everyone rushed into the room with weapons drawn.

Blood was splattered all over the hall. Two police officers were covered in wounds, lying on the floor with their breath fading.

"Call for an ambulance! Beatrice, you take charge here." After saying that, Chen Huijie rushed to the back where the suspects had jumped out the window and followed them without hesitation.

Flandre looked at the two injured officers and then at Beatrice. The Pink Sausage Dragon pointed toward the window. "These two aren't heavily injured; they won't die. I'll protect this area. You go help Chen Huijie."

Flandre nodded and then flew out through the window. Although the sky was somewhat dim, Flandre had already locked onto Chen Huijie and the two fleeing suspects. She quickly gave chase.

"Chen Huijie, it's me. I'm in the air helping you track the targets." Flandre's voice rang in her ear.

Chen Huijie looked up while running and saw Flandre waving to her from the sky. She nodded and continued to focus on pursuing the criminals. The suspects were clearly very familiar with this area. They led Chen Huijie specifically through crowded places. If it weren't for Flandre firmly locking onto the targets from the air, they might have actually escaped.

Chen Huijie told Flandre to keep an eye on the two but not to reveal herself. Since their residence had been discovered, she guessed they would likely head to a Cult of Truth stronghold to hide. If they could follow the trail and find the stronghold, they might be able to uproot the organization once and for all. Hearing this, Flandre concealed her form and focused on tracking their position from high above.

After many twists and turns, the two finally ran into a factory building. Under Flandre's guidance, Chen Huijie arrived at a corner not far from the factory.

"Are you sure they ran in there?" Chen Huijie asked in a low voice.

"I'm sure. They are all still inside now," Flandre replied with a nod.

"Are there other people inside?"

"About seven or eight!"

"Alright, little Flandre, please keep a close eye on this place. If anyone leaves, report to me immediately. I'm calling for backup now."

Chen Huijie took out her phone and contacted Hoshiguma directly. Half an hour later, seven or eight police cars carrying several loads of Lungmen Guard Officers quietly surrounded the factory. At this point, many of the officers who had arrived still didn't know what was happening. This was naturally because of the previous near-miss, which made them suspect there was a mole within the police force. Until that person was caught, operations like this were basically known only to the commanders.

Upon learning that those inside the factory were members of the Cult of Truth, who had previously caused the police force to lose face, the officers all gripped their weapons tightly. Mainly because the people in this organization were too insane. This time, they had actually found the enemy's den. They had to avenge their fallen comrades.

Soon, the Guard Department had all exit routes from the factory under control. Chen Huijie looked at Flandre. Flandre pointed at the factory and said, "They are all concentrated in this area toward the middle and back. There's no one in the front."

Chen Huijie and Hoshiguma stood outside the factory.

"The front of these kinds of factories is usually an open space for various equipment. Where Flandre is pointing is where the office area is located. In other words, they are all concentrated in the office area. But those spaces are quite narrow, and we're not sure if they have weapons. Fighting in such an environment could easily lead to casualties. My suggestion is that we set up a pocket trap at the back, then pretend to launch a frontal assault to force them out through the back door and capture them all at once." Hoshiguma shared her view.

Chen Huijie's original plan was to trap them inside. But hearing Hoshiguma's words, she realized that if there was no way out, given the nature of the Cult of Truth members, they would certainly fight to the death. It would be better to pretend to leave a retreat and lure them out.

"Your idea is good; we'll go with your plan!" Chen Huijie raised her weapon, ready to go to the front, but was pulled back by Hoshiguma.

"Leave the frontal breakthrough to me and Hannya(Her Shield). You're meticulous; leave the ambush work to yourself." Saying this, Hoshiguma patted Chen Huijie's shoulder. "Hehe, this isn't about stealing the credit. You know our specialties are different."

Chen Huijie sighed. "Fine, then leave the ambush to me. I'll message you when I'm ready."

After Chen Huijie finished speaking, she led her team to the back to set the ambush, while Flandre stayed behind with Hoshiguma. In truth, if Chen Huijie had asked her to act, she could have easily captured the people inside. But Chen Huijie didn't just want to simply catch these people. Letting the Lungmen Guard Officers handle the arrest was to wash away the shame of the suspects escaping before. Second, it was to startle the snake. She had already contacted Beatrice and Lin Yuhsia; both sides would be watching every move. As long as the mole dared to show their head, they could follow the trail.

Another half hour passed. Chen Huijie and the others finally finished setting up the ambush at the back. Then, with an order, Hoshiguma led her team and smashed open the factory door.

"We are the Lungmen Guard Department Major Crimes Unit. We received a report of hazardous materials being stored here. Who is in charge? Come out immediately!" Although she was there to make arrests, Hoshiguma didn't reveal her purpose at first, instead shouting under the pretext of hazardous materials.

The ten or so people inside looked up upon hearing the commotion from the front. They saw a group of fully armed Lungmen Guard Officers rushing in from the main door.

"Dammit, didn't you two say you weren't followed!" They looked at the two "lovers" who had fled in earlier, roaring while scanning their surroundings.

"Boss, there's no one at the back!" a lackey said to him after observing the rear of the warehouse.
