Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Phoebe is going into labor

Just when everyone was at a loss, someone suggested rushing Phoebe to the Hospital. So they frantically helped Phoebe into the car and hurried to the nearest Hospital.

Upon arrival at the Hospital, the doctor examined Phoebe and found that although her water had broken, labor pains had not yet begun. Therefore, she needed to stay in the Delivery Room to wait until her cervix dilated to ten centimeters before she could enter the Delivery Room.

Everyone sat around Phoebe, waiting anxiously and nervously. Monica kept comforting Phoebe. Ross was in charge of contacting doctors and nurses to ensure everything was ready. Rachel was in charge of standing beautifully, occasionally offering comfort, hoping to help her relax. Chandler stood by, trying to lighten the mood with humor.

Joey Tribbiani held a video camera, recording the surroundings from time to time. He felt this moment was very precious and wanted to document the miracle of life being born. Although he usually joked around, at this moment he seemed exceptionally serious.

"Phoebe, say something to the babies," Joey Tribbiani said with a goofy smile.

"OK, hi, babies, don't hurt me!" Phoebe shivered, clutching her belly.

"Oh~ the first contraction..." Phoebe frowned, feeling the contractions, which seemed uncomfortable... Everyone watched her nervously.

"It's not too bad," Phoebe suddenly relaxed, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"I'll go get you something to drink, Phoebe," Lan Chu said, leaving the Delivery Room.

The place for giving birth was too terrifying, causing Lan Chu, a recently adult University student, a wave of discomfort and fear. She quickly walked out of the Delivery Room and into the Hospital corridor.

Suddenly, she heard someone call her name: "Ella Lan." Lan Chu looked up and saw James standing not far away, wearing a white coat, looking very professional.

"James!" Lan Chu exclaimed in surprise, "Why are you here?" James smiled and replied, "I'm a doctor at this Hospital." Lan Chu was overjoyed to hear this, never expecting to meet him here.

"Why are you here? This is the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. Are you... not feeling well?" James asked courteously.

"No, my friend is about to give birth, and I'm here to accompany her. Do you know where the hot water area is in this Hospital?" Lan Chu asked.

"Hot water?" James asked, puzzled.

"Oh, I forgot you don't have the habit of drinking hot water. Then, where is the water or drinks counter?" Lan Chu rephrased her question.

"I'll take you."

Lan Chu followed James and bought some water and chocolate for Phoebe.

"Thank you, James," Lan Chu said.

"You're welcome. Are you free on Saturday?" James asked.

"Saturday, I should be able to take a day off."

"I have a friend whose son is very interested in China, so his father, my friend, wants to hire someone who knows a lot about Chinese customs to be his son's home tutor. I thought of you since you're Chinese, so I wanted to ask if you have time?" James said.

"Of course, I do. How much is the salary?" This was Lan Chu's biggest concern.

"It's definitely much more than what you earn now; he's a rich man," James said.

"I'll definitely go. Is Saturday for an interview first?"

"That's right."

"Great!"

Unknowingly, they had already reached the front of the Delivery Room. At this time, the others were all waiting outside the door, while Phoebe's brother and Ross were inside the Delivery Room.

Monica gestured for Rachel Green to look at Lan Chu's direction, and Rachel Green was very surprised.

"Oh, my God, Ella Lan, introduce us, who is he~" Rachel Green smelled gossip.

"This is my friend James. James, this is Rachel Green, and over there are Monica and Joey Tribbiani. The one on the phone is Chandler Bing," Lan Chu introduced.

Oh, Rachel Green sighed in her heart.

"Ella Lan, I'm going back to my department to get busy," James said before leaving.

"Oh, Ella Lan, I didn't realize, how did you manage to get such a handsome guy?" Rachel Green asked.

"I haven't gotten him yet, we're just friends," Lan Chu replied shyly.

"Oh, by the way, James introduced me to a new job. A wealthy friend of his is looking for a Chinese tutor, so I don't have to serve coffee at the Coffee Shop anymore," Lan Chu shared happily.

"Yeah~ rich people all like tutors~" Joey Tribbiani said meaningfully.

"Joey Tribbiani? Can you stop making everything sound so disgusting?" Rachel Green said.

"Jelly~ Grandma's chicken~ rich people's tutors~" Joey Tribbiani said... but Lan Chu felt a bit more uneasy in her heart. However, Lan Chu really wanted this job, so she decided to give it a try. If Joey Tribbiani's unintentional words turned out to be true, she would make him drink chili water.

"Hey, why aren't you guys inside with Phoebe Buffay?" Lan Chu asked.

"Ross found a doctor who loves Fonzie, and Phoebe Buffay got angry," Monica said.

"Oh~ interesting~ Then I'll go in to give Phoebe Buffay something to drink," Lan

Chu said goodbye to the others and walked into the Delivery Room.

Phoebe Buffay was already covered in sweat, and the contractions had begun to exhaust her.

Phoebe Buffay's brother was already in place. This scene made Lan Chu feel a bit emotional, seeing Phoebe Buffay and later Rachel Green have so many friends by their side during childbirth. She wondered who would be by her side when she gave birth in the future?

No, Lan Chu panicked, she didn't want to have children... Lan Chu nonchalantly placed the drink on the small cabinet next to Phoebe Buffay.

After another wave of Phoebe Buffay's contractions passed, Lan Chu helped Phoebe Buffay drink some water. Phoebe Buffay's brother also went out to answer a call at this time.

"Are you okay, Phoebe Buffay?" Lan Chu asked.

"Thank you, Ella Lan, oh... this is really uncomfortable," Phoebe Buffay said, rubbing her belly.

"I've heard of a Lamaze Breathing Technique, it's said to reduce ten-level pain to nine and a half," Lan Chu said seriously.

"Haha... that's funny..." Phoebe Buffay responded helplessly.

"I really envy you, Phoebe Buffay, you're truly kind. If it were me, I definitely couldn't make this decision," Lan Chu said, looking at Phoebe Buffay's belly with emotion.

"Of course, I'm kind... and it's not for nothing. I'll tell you a secret, I plan to keep one for myself," Phoebe Buffay whispered.

"That's a good idea, but will your brother agree? They probably all want to raise them," Lan Chu said.

"So... Ella Lan, can you talk to him for me?" Phoebe Buffay looked at Lan Chu sincerely.

Lan Chu's eyes widened, and then she said, "But... shouldn't Rachel Green be the one to say this?"

"I thought so at first, but then I thought, my brother is meeting you for the first time today. If you say it, it'll be harder for him to refuse," Phoebe Buffay said seriously.

"Is... that so?" Lan Chu asked doubtfully.

"Oh, here it comes again!" Lan Chu immediately grabbed Phoebe Buffay's hand.

The contraction made Phoebe Buffay grip Lan Chu's hand tightly, and the screams of the two women echoed in the Delivery Room.
