Chapter 144 - The Pure Pendant

When Peter arrived at the foot of Mount Coronet, he released the Poké Ball in his hand and selected the release option.

A flash of light appeared.

The Ice Titan emerged once more.

Regice materialized in front of him, and the surrounding temperature immediately dropped several degrees.

"Regi…ice…"

It nodded toward Peter.

Then its hands glowed with icy light.

A cool ripple spread through the air, enveloping him.

"Regi…"

Regice gently took Peter's hand.

Then it placed a small block of ice into his palm.

After that, it stepped onto a staircase made of ice, slowly ascending toward the mountain.

Its towering figure disappeared into the clouds.

Peter looked down at the ice crystal in his hand.

Ice Token

Description:

A symbol recognized by the Iceberg Ruins. Among the giants, it represents Regice itself. Presenting it to Regigigas greatly increases favorability.

Peter grinned.

"So… I accidentally completed part of the requirements for capturing the King of the Titans?"

He tossed the token into his system inventory.

His mood improved instantly.

Then—

He decided to do a ten-pull draw.

Item Descriptions

Red Card

If the holder is hit but not knocked out, the Red Card activates and forcibly switches the opponent out to another Pokémon.

Triggers once per battle.

Escape Backpack

When the holder's stats drop, the Pokémon automatically returns to its Poké Ball.

Triggers once per battle.

Pure Pendant

Prevents stat reductions from any source except recoil moves.

Peter stretched lazily.

"Ah… that feels good."

Red Card and Escape Backpack were extremely flexible switching tools.

Red Card was especially powerful against setup sweepers.

"As for Escape Backpack… a little late."

He shook his head.

Originally, this item would have been perfect for Slaking.

Using moves like Hammer Arm or Close Combat would trigger the backpack, allowing Slaking to attack and then immediately switch out—skipping its loafing turn.

But Peter's current team already had stronger strategies.

The item would only shine in certain situations now.

As for Pure Pendant—

That was a core item for Baton Pass teams.

Even moves like Haze couldn't reset its boosts.

The only real counter was forced switching moves like Roar.

TMs Distribution

Peter quickly began assigning the new moves.

Attract → most Pokémon except Indeedee and ArbolivaGravity → perfect for the HappinyStored Power → learned by Happiny and Eevee for Baton Pass strategiesU-turn → for Lopunny and RuffletDazzling Gleam → for Indeedee and ArbolivaMega Kick → for all physical attackers except RuffletHyper Voice → usable by special attackers including Slaking

These additions improved both type coverage and battle control.

Peter purchased the TMs from the system shop.

Including the ten-pull draw, he spent 400 Master Points.

"All set."

He smiled as he returned his Pokémon.

These new skills would keep them busy training for quite a while.

Life on the Mountain

Peter also called Mira's parents to inform them she was safe.

After learning their daughter was studying under a Pokémon Professor, they were completely reassured.

The only one uncomfortable about the situation—

Was Mira herself.

Because the two adults beside her clearly forgot she existed.

Every day was filled with lovey-dovey interactions she absolutely should not be witnessing.

Of course—

What she saw was only the surface.

The real action happened late at night.

Strangely enough, Mira slept extremely well.

Deep sleep until morning.

Meanwhile, several of Peter's Pokémon had significantly improved their Yawn move proficiency.

Three Days Later

Morning sunlight shone across the campsite.

Whitney crawled out of the tent with a flushed face.

Her sweet, soft features now looked even more radiant.

The innocent charm in her eyes was slowly evolving into a more mature allure.

Ever since Peter received the Iceberg Blessing, Whitney seemed to benefit from it too.

The most obvious change—

She stayed awake later every night.

Though strangely, her skin looked even better.

She held her chest thoughtfully.

"…Why does it feel heavier again?"

"…Did I gain weight?"

Thinking about food reminded her of Peter.

Her face turned red again.

She glanced nervously toward Mira's tent.

Since Mira was heading to Hearthome City, the three of them were traveling together.

That slowed Mira's return home considerably.

Still—

Her parents and teachers were happy she was learning from Peter.

With Indeedee's help, Whitney finished breakfast.

Soon the three trainers and more than ten Pokémon began their day.

"I checked the map," Peter said while drinking milk Whitney fed him.

"We should reach the city after descending the mountain today."

Whitney sighed happily.

"Finally."

"Tents are nice… but a real bed is way more attractive."

Her cheeks reddened slightly.

She quietly pinched Peter's thigh.

Sleeping without a mattress recently had left her sore everywhere.

Of course—

No matter how sore she was…

Peter's thigh was now really sore.

He grabbed her hand quickly.

"Ahem… I'll go feed Eevee and the others."

Just as he tried to escape—

A childish voice suddenly shouted behind him.

"Let go of that girl!"

Peter turned around.

A short boy wearing a school uniform stood there, pointing angrily at him.

"Yeah, you!"

"You suspicious brother kidnapping girls!"

Peter blinked.

"???"

Mira sighed helplessly.

"Oh my god… Gibbs, what are you doing?"

"Don't worry, Mira!" the boy declared heroically.

"I'll rescue you!"

He threw a Poké Ball.

"Go—Machamp!"

The muscular Pokémon charged forward.

But before the boy could give any commands—

A black-stockinged figure flashed down the hillside like lightning.

BOOM!

Lopunny's kick struck Machamp directly.

The giant Pokémon dropped to its knees instantly.

Cracks spread across the ground beneath it.

"Mi-lo!"

Lopunny leapt again.

Another kick launched Machamp straight into a tree.

It slid down the trunk—completely defeated.

Silence fell over the forest.
