Chapter 146 - Clash of Titans — Slaking vs Snorlax

Watching his Pokémon fully immerse themselves in training, Peter gave a few final instructions to Indeedee, asking her to lead the rest in ranked battles later.

Then, he took the remaining three Pokémon and headed toward the Mimetic Chamber.

Once a Pokémon reaches the Elite tier, its energy begins to compress.

This makes leveling up significantly harder.

This stage is known as quantitative change.

When a Pokémon breaks into the Gym-tier, something more profound happens—

Its energy undergoes refinement.

The total amount may decrease…

But the quality transforms drastically.

This is qualitative change.

When energy purity reaches a certain threshold—

A Pokémon ascends to the Elite Four tier.

Beyond that, it continues refining energy, honing techniques, and strengthening its body to climb even higher.

However—

Energy refinement isn't something that can be forced.

It requires understanding.

In other words—

Talent and comprehension.

Most Pokémon get stuck when trying to break from Elite to Gym-tier.

And almost all are stopped at the threshold before Elite Four.

But—

Inside the Mimetic Chamber?

These problems could be partially bypassed.

Because here—

Pokémon absorb pure natural energy, perfectly tailored to their needs.

This allowed Peter's team to grow steadier and stronger than normal.

The system generated custom environments for:

LopunnyArboliva

Lopunny's Trial — The Frozen Ascent

Before Lopunny stood a towering snow-covered peak—

A replica of Mount Coronet.

But unlike reality—

Floating platforms made of Normal-type and Fighting-type energy extended outward.

Each step was separated by dozens of meters.

The only way forward—

Jump.

Climb.

Ascend.

"Mi-lo…"

Lopunny stared at the summit.

Up there—

Was her promise.

Her answer.

Her purpose.

"Step!"

She leapt forward.

The first few platforms were easy.

But the surfaces were narrow and slippery.

One misstep—

And she would fall.

Add to that—

Freezing winds.

Relentless cold.

Every jump demanded perfect control.

As she climbed higher—

Each leap required more energy.

But in that process—

Her energy grew denser.

Stronger.

Purified.

Arboliva's Trial — The Corrupted Forest

Before Arboliva stretched a lush, vibrant forest.

Overflowing with Normal-type and Grass-type energy.

But surrounding it—

Were massive landfills.

Pollution crept inward.

Slowly devouring the forest.

"Liva!"

Without hesitation—

Arboliva activated Grassy Terrain.

Green light spread outward.

Purifying.

Healing.

Resisting the encroaching corruption.

Streams of natural energy flowed into her body.

Her aura steadily grew stronger.

Peter watched silently.

A sense of satisfaction filled his chest.

Yes—

His Pokémon were talented.

But more importantly—

They had goals.

Purpose.

That was what truly defined strength.

Slaking's Turn

"Alright, Slaking… today's your spotlight."

Peter patted the massive arm of Slaking and entered the Battle Simulation Room.

Match Found

Opponent: Snorlax

A massive shadow descended from the sky.

BOOM!

Dust scattered.

A huge, dark-blue giant sat on the ground—

Eyes closed.

Snoring peacefully.

A bubble expanded and contracted from its nose.

Peter squinted.

"…Why does this look familiar?"

Then—

A silhouette appeared behind Snorlax.

A boy wearing a cap.

Patting its belly.

"Wake up, Snorlax! It's your turn!"

POP!

The nose bubble burst.

Snorlax slowly opened its eyes.

"Snor…"

It stood up.

Facing Slaking directly.

Opponent Analysis

Snorlax Lv.55 (Gym-tier Mid)

Peter narrowed his eyes.

So it really is Ash's Snorlax…

One of his veteran Pokémon from the Orange Islands.

At this level—

It rivaled newly appointed Gym Leaders.

The Clash Begins

"I wonder…"

Peter murmured.

"Can Slaking match it in raw strength?"

He equipped a Power Band on Slaking.

(+10% strength boost)

"Snorlax! Charge in with Double-Edge!"

Snorlax charged forward.

Each step shook the ground.

As it approached—

It kicked off the ground and launched itself forward!

Like a living boulder.

Slaking stood still.

Its body tensed.

Fighting energy gathered around its fists.

Then—

At the final moment—

It moved.

Its massive arms swung in a full arc—

HAMMER ARM!

Impact

BOOOOOOM—!!

The collision exploded like thunder.

Snorlax staggered backward—

Ten full meters before stabilizing.

Meanwhile—

Slaking slid several meters.

Its speed dropped.

Its breathing slightly heavier.

Result

Slaking wins the power clash.

But—

Snorlax had far greater stamina.

Overall—

Peter was still at a disadvantage.

Ash grinned.

"Heh! Your Slaking reminds me of Norman, May's dad!"

Peter smiled faintly.

"Does it?"

"Then maybe… after this battle, you'll understand it even better."

His expression sharpened.

"Slaking—Taunt."

"Laaa!"

Slaking curled its finger provocatively.

Snorlax's eyes snapped open.

It got serious.

"Snorlax! Keep it up—use High Horsepower!"

Peter's lips curved.

"Now—Sucker Punch."

"ROAR—!"

Slaking exploded forward like a cannonball.

A fist slammed straight into Snorlax's face.

Snorlax barely flinched.

It gathered ground-type energy.

High Horsepower wasn't interrupted.

It charged again—

"Now!" Peter shouted.

"Aim for its left hip and right shoulder—break it step by step!"

Slaking's eyes sharpened.

BOOM!

Right fist—

Struck Snorlax's hip.

Its movement stalled.

Left hand—

Chopped into its shoulder.

Its attacking arm was deflected

Snorlax's momentum collapsed mid-charge.

The battlefield shifted.

The tide—

Was turning.
