Ferran Torres, like Morata, had missed his chance, leaving Spain's fans with lingering doubts about the team's attacking players.
"I miss the forward line from the World Cup, with Isco, Asensio, David Silva, and Diego Costa!"
"When Asensio used to start on the left wing, I didn't appreciate him enough. It wasn't until Ferran Torres replaced him that I started missing Asensio's ability to beat his man."
"David Silva being left out of this European Championship shocked me almost as much as Sergio Ramos being omitted. David Silva can still compete at this level."
Ferran Torres had once again reignited the doubts some Spanish fans had about Hierro's squad selection.
After all, Hierro had personally chosen every player in the Spain squad. Whenever one of them performed poorly, it reflected badly on his decisions.
What worried Poland's fans most was that almost every time Leo Lin disrupted their attack, Pedri was able to carry the ball forward and launch a counterattack.
Then there were Olmo's crosses, each more accurate than the last. If this continued, Ferran Torres and Morata were bound to find a way to score sooner or later.
The 37th minute!
"Olmo has played that brilliantly! A through ball to Pedri, who sends it forward!"
"Morata shoots from the right!"
"Szczęsny denies Spain!"
"It's a miracle Poland still haven't conceded!"
The first half eventually ended with Morata and Ferran Torres putting on a display of missed shots, leaving the Spanish fans deeply unhappy with the goalless scoreline.
"Poland have gone 45 minutes without conceding. The first person they should thank is Morata, and the second is Ferran Torres!"
"Morata and Ferran Torres are working so hard to keep Poland's hopes of qualifying alive!"
"If I were Olmo, the first thing I'd do in the dressing room would be to take those two out and put someone else on. Then Spain might actually score in the second half!"
Stam was about to comment on Morata when he noticed that the live feed still had not switched away.
The camera remained fixed on Leo Lin and Zieliński. Soon, Moder and Świderski joined them as well, with all three wanting to swap shirts with Leo Lin immediately.
Then, incredibly, the three of them started tugging at the shirt Leo Lin had just taken off, none of them willing to let go.
Everyone in the ESPN studio stared at the Polish players arguing on the pitch. Zieliński, Moder, and Świderski each had a hand on Leo Lin's shirt.
Leo Lin stood beside them, looking completely bewildered.
The three of them were speaking Polish, so Leo Lin had no idea what they were saying. Judging from their expressions and tone, however, he could tell they were arguing. Apparently, all three wanted his shirt.
"It's fine. If you still want one, I can swap with you after the second half. Don't argue over something so minor. The cameras are still broadcasting this live!"
The moment the photographers noticed the Polish players arguing, several of them rushed closer with their cameras. Even then, the three refused to let go until Świderski finally backed down, leaving Zieliński and Moder fighting over the shirt Leo Lin had worn in the first half.
"After Swedish fans went crazy asking for Leo Lin's autograph in the last match, we now have something even more ridiculous. Zieliński and Moder are actually arguing over his shirt!"
Stam could hardly believe it.
"Stop fighting. If you can't settle it, just give the shirt to me. Zieliński, Moder, neither of you gets it. That way, no one has to feel bad."
In the end, Zieliński claimed Leo Lin's shirt. Only then did the ESPN broadcast finally cut away.
"I don't understand. Is one of Lin's shirts really that irresistible?"
"I have two at home that he gave me personally when I interviewed him. He even wrote my name on them."
Gullit did not think he was showing off at all, at least not until Scholes pulled out his phone and began searching for Gullit's address.
The moment Stam heard that, he wondered why he had even bothered coming to commentate.
Had he known Gullit had treasures like that at home, he could have visited instead and conveniently walked away with both shirts.
"Scholes, why are you looking up my address?"
Gullit caught sight of Scholes's phone. Looking guilty, Scholes immediately turned off the screen.
"It's nothing. I was just looking around."
"Poland kept Spain from scoring in the first half, so Spain will probably make some adjustments after the break!"
"Who will break the deadlock? Olmo, Lin, or Rodri. Whoever it is, it probably won't be any of the others."
"Morata scored in the previous group match and seemed to be improving, but tonight he looks more like his old self again. He has missed three chances, including one golden opportunity."
Hierro was discussing with Xavi whether to take Morata off, but Zubizarreta believed doing so would only cause Morata's form to decline further.
"We can't take him off. Morata is our first-choice striker at this European Championship, and we don't have another good center forward in the squad."
"If we substitute him now, are we still going to start him in the matches ahead?"
"If we keep starting him but don't trust him, how is Morata ever supposed to improve?"
"We have to leave him on. But I think we can bring Oyarzabal on at left wing."
Zubizarreta believed they could replace one of the wingers and restore the setup from the previous match to see whether it could get Morata going again.
Hierro ultimately brought on Oyarzabal for Ferran Torres. Xavi then spoke privately with Ferran Torres, hoping to help the winger rediscover the form he had shown at Manchester City.
The second half between Spain and Poland began.
Zieliński had changed positions, and so had Świderski.
Poland had abandoned their back five and switched to a back four.
"Judging by Poland's decision to use a back four and attack in the second half, they don't seem satisfied with one point. They want all three against Spain!"
Stam thought Poland had lost their minds. Taking three points from Spain was an extremely difficult task.
"They don't have much choice. If they settle for one point, Sweden are already three goals ahead in the other group match. Poland would then have to fight Sweden for qualification in the final round, leaving themselves very little margin for error."
"Only a win here gives them more options in the final match. Even a draw against Sweden might then be enough to send them through. Poland are already planning ahead!"
The Poland coach had indeed decided to attack Spain in the second half after receiving news at halftime that Sweden were three goals ahead.
But the moment Hierro saw Poland commit more players forward, he immediately pulled Thiago aside.
"Start warming up. You're going on in six minutes!"
"You'll replace Olmo, and I need you to completely transform our attacking shape."
"Tell Lin that once we reach the 60th minute."
"We finish Poland off as quickly as possible!"
