Chapter 33 - The Bullet That Never Reached

A gunshot suddenly comes from Emma's side.

But before the bullet can reach its target, another bullet comes flying from the opposite direction. The two bullets collide in mid-air, knocking Emma's bullet off its path. It flies away and strikes a nearby tree.

For a moment, everything becomes still.

Then we see D standing there with her gun in her hand. She looks at the tree where the bullet landed and gives a small, satisfied smile.

Finally... my shooting is back to normal.

Before anyone can react, the sound of powerful motorcycle engines fills the street.

One motorcycle after another speeds past, some of them passing dangerously close above Emma. The people sitting behind the riders are carrying guns, watching the surroundings carefully.

Suddenly, shots begin coming from different directions.

The entire area turns chaotic.

Emma looks around, trying to understand where the attack is coming from.

Then, through the chaos, Haiku appears on his motorcycle.

"Emma!"

He immediately rides toward her and stops beside her.

"Get on!"

Emma quickly gets onto the motorcycle.

Haiku hands her a helmet.

"Put this on."

Emma puts on the helmet and looks behind them.

More motorcycles are arriving.

Not just one or two.

Dozens.

Soon, almost fifty motorcycles are moving together along the road. Every rider is wearing matching clothes and helmets. From a distance, they look like one enormous, perfectly organized group.

Emma's gang has arrived.

But the enemy isn't far behind.

More motorcycles appear at the end of the street and begin chasing them.

The engines grow louder as both groups race through the streets.

For a moment, the entire road seems strangely empty and silent.

There are no ordinary people around.

Only the sound of motorcycles, rushing wind, and distant gunshots can be heard.

Emma looks ahead and says,

"I don't want to fight right now."

Haiku glances at her.

"What?"

Emma's voice becomes serious.

"So many of our people are already in the hospital. I don't want anyone else getting hurt because of me."

Haiku doesn't answer.

He simply keeps driving.

Then D raises her gun.

She fires a single black signal into the air.

The signal is immediately understood by everyone in the gang.

One by one, the motorcycles suddenly turn in the same direction.

They leave the main road and head toward the forest.

The enemy motorcycles follow them without realizing that they are being led exactly where Emma's gang wants them.

The road becomes narrower.

Trees surround them from every side.

And then—

The enemy motorcycles suddenly hit the hidden traps that had already been prepared.

The chase comes to an abrupt stop.

Meanwhile, Emma and the members of her gang reach an old, abandoned-looking house deeper inside the forest.

Everyone gets off their motorcycles.

Emma removes her helmet and looks around at the people standing in front of her.

Her expression is serious.

"I want everyone to listen carefully."

The members become quiet.

"I already told you that joining this gang means putting your life at risk. I won't lie to you about that."

She looks at each person.

"Your life could be in danger because of me. So if anyone wants to leave, you can leave now. I won't stop you."

Nobody speaks.

Emma continues,

"If you want to stay, then stay because you truly want to. Don't stay because you're afraid of leaving."

A few members look nervous.

After a moment, five people slowly step forward and leave.

Emma watches them go.

She doesn't stop them.

Then she looks back at the remaining members.

"Does anyone else want to leave?"

Silence.

"You still have a chance. After this, I'll make the final plan with the members who remain."

Several members exchange nervous glances.

Finally, one of them speaks.

"We're scared."

Another member nods.

"Yes... we're definitely scared."

Emma remains silent.

"But being scared doesn't mean we're going to abandon our leader."

Another member steps forward.

"You're our president, Emma. We chose to follow you. So we'll fight for you."

The others begin agreeing with him.

Emma looks at them for a moment.

For the first time, her serious expression softens slightly.

Just then, Haiku returns from inside the abandoned house.

He is holding something in his hand.

"Emma."

Everyone turns toward him.

Haiku walks closer.

"I found a CD inside the house."

He also has several old photographs with him.

"I found these too."

Haiku looks through the photographs.

Most of them appear to be old pictures of former gang members.

He takes some of them aside and burns them, but one photograph remains in his hand.

He looks at it carefully.

The photograph shows Deccan, Emma, Haiku, and Angel standing together.

For a moment, Haiku simply stares at it.

Then he turns toward Emma.

"I think we should keep this one."

Emma looks at the photograph.

Her expression changes slightly.

Haiku then holds up the CD.

"I found this too. Why don't we go home? We can talk about it tomorrow."

Emma looks at the CD.

"Okay. I wanted to know what's on it anyway."

Later, at home...

Emma places the CD into the TV.

The screen flickers.

For a few seconds, nothing happens.

Then an old video begins playing.

Emma and Haiku stare at the screen.

It is a video of their old gang.

The quality is poor and the footage looks years old.

One by one, the old members begin appearing on the screen.

Their names are introduced as they enter.

First comes Emma.

Then Deccan appears beside her.

After them come Haiku, Kuro, Angel, and several other members.

Angel has two guns in her hands.

Instead of looking serious, she is laughing and dancing with the others.

Everyone seems much younger and happier.

Emma is holding Deccan's hand as they walk into the frame together.

Then several more people appear.

However, their faces are deliberately blurred.

One of them looks toward the camera and jokingly says,

"Our faces are blurred, right?"

For a moment, there is silence.

Then a voice comes from behind them.

A voice that sounds exactly like Angel.

"Yeah. They are."

The names of the members begin appearing one after another.

Rai.

Jack.

Kai.

Dark.

Jaku.

Nagami.

Emma watches the screen without saying a word.

Then something else catches her attention.

Their old gang uniforms are completely different from the ones they wear now.

Instead of black, the old uniforms are white.

And on each uniform is the symbol of a lion.

The old gang members continue laughing and enjoying themselves in the recording.

For a moment, it feels as if Emma has been transported back into the past.

Then the old Emma in the video steps forward.

She looks directly toward the camera.

A confident smile appears on her face.

"I am Emma Ukoi, the leader of this gang."

Everyone behind her becomes quiet.

Emma continues,

"And I promise you one thing."

She looks at all of her members.

"This gang will never be disbanded."

The video freezes for a moment.

Emma sitting in the present watches the screen silently.

Her eyes remain fixed on the old recording.

She has no idea yet that this forgotten video is about to reveal secrets about the gang's past that she never expected to see again.
