As if it were planned, just at that moment, a beam of yellow light illuminated a colossal tree hidden in the shadows. It was so far away that it was the only thing visible in a dark ocean.
The yellow beam passed over it, but for how large the tree was, it seemed to never move. The crimson leaves gave chills to Roi, while its trunk was swallowed by the dark.
Roi was speechless. If it looked like that from such a distance, how imposing must it have been up close?
He rubbed his eyes, not believing what he was seeing. Yet, the view remained the same, with one small but crucial difference. A small star beneath the tree of the same colour as the little rivers in Lish's eyes.
The light managed to penetrate through the millions of red leaves, and a small gold spot reflected the light. Roi was marveled by that view, a small gold star immersed in an ocean of shadows.
He saw himself in that. He, the Savior, immersed in an ocean of non-believers. For a moment, then, reality hit him again. His Blessing doesn't shine like that at all.
<
Roi turned to Lish, who was pointing at him with his index finger.
<
Both of them laughed, though Roi seemed quite strange to laugh at that view of a gloomy, abandoned city.
<> Lish's words brought him back to reality. He wiped away a newborn tear. <
The little gold light disappeared, swallowed by the shadows.
<
Roi stared at him with distant eyes. What Lish told him was a lot.
So the temple was built to worship Gordàlish, but he also appeared inside it, so it is also his home. Roi remembered the words of Greth about this city. Humans and Gods walked together.
"How can someone stand that presence?" He quite well remembered what he and his body felt before waking up in the temple. Provided that it was really God and not his soul.
Then, there was the kingdom and the first men.
In that moment, Roi realized that Lish had told him lots of things and nothing at the same time.
<
Roi's eyes came back to life.
<
Lish lingered for a moment. He looked up to search for enlightenment in the wooden roof while biting his upper lip.
<
"The Iron District is another kingdom?"
<
<
Lish waved his hand.
<
Roi understood what that meant. He had a weak Blessing, maybe a dying one. He could never have got Gordàlish's attention.
"Thanks for the reminder."
Roi lost all desire to continue that conversation. He even lost the desire to be there; that view had become somewhat repulsive.
<
He looked at the countless tall, ruined houses standing alongside the road that disappeared in the dark. His hands gently caressed each other's fingertips.
They remained in silence for a few moments, then Lish spoke once again.
<
His fingers began to sink into each fingertip. Roi felt pain in his voice.
<
He lingered for a few more moments. Roi looked at him, feeling bad. Lish reminded him of how pitiful and weak he was, but those words carried piercing pain.
<
As before, in that moment, the beam of yellow light was obscured by the black mist, and the crimson red leaves disappeared beyond a black veil.
