Julian stepped out of Lucian's building and into the cool morning air. The city was waking up around him, cars starting to fill the streets, people rushing to their jobs.
He pulled his jacket tighter, not against the chill, but against the feeling of eyes on him. It was always there now, that sensation of being watched.
Ever since the kidnapping, ever since he'd become Lucian's, he'd known that every move he made was being observed.
He walked briskly toward the subway, his mind already on the day ahead. Work. Meetings.
The usual grind. But the usual wasn't usual anymore. Not since everything had changed.
The subway platform was crowded, people shuffling and muttering under their breath. Julian found a spot near the wall, trying to blend in. Invisible.
That's what he wanted to be. Invisible. But he knew he wasn't. Not anymore.
