Chapter 1 - Chapter1: Burial grounds

The dead stay dead right?

Well that usually is the case but not here, not in the country known as Hiem where there are more monsters and spirits then there are humans.

But why?

Well that's simple.

Hiem is located in the Perdita ocean which in fact is the closet of all oceans in Earth realm to the Spirit realm and Mana realm at the exact same time.

Which brings us to this lowly graveyard filled with thirty or so headstones.

And as a youthful yet frail child entered the land of the dead a battle of spirits began.

"I told you take your revenge on whoever but leave my family out of it, I'm sure they had nothing to do with your untimely death" a translucent woman spoke, her body revealed to all but the living.

"Everyone from the village is to blame I tell you, she will be the first to help me in taking my vengeance" another translucent person argued.

"I wish I knew you mum father never speaks of you and he rarely stays home for more then a day".

"It just gets so lonely with the village being empty all the time" the pale girl began to sob as she soaked her palms.

"I'll show you just how lonely it can get child" the ghost like man wrapped his hand around the girl's neck, each finger slowly gracing her skin.

But despite this the girl continued to wet the grave beneath her knees.

It was as if the presence of death was unknown to her.

"You will lay no hand on my daughter you fiend" the translucent woman cried out as she wrestled the spirit off of her daughter.

The dark began to conquer the light of day but the spirits energy did not waver, in fact they continued to argue for what seemed to be hours.

"Mum is that you..." the young girl mumbled as what could only be described as an abomination was revealed to her.

But just as quickly as it was revealed it disappeared...

Even more hours passed and the sun rose once again...

"I'm telling you I saw my mum in the burial grounds" the girl screamed and stomped her feet as tears ran down her colourless cheeks.

"And how are you so sure it was your mother and not some troll, I mean come on you have never seen your mum am I right?" a ginger haired man swung his axe from side to side.

"Now Sigurd I handle these matters your job is to protect us against the monsters of the mountains don't forget that" Troluk Piedus the village chief rested upon a pile of leather as if it were a throne of riches.

"Yeah I won't forget grandfather, be careful with the girl she might be a monster in disguise" Sigurd made his jest whilst storming out the largest building in the village, although there is only four.

"Now Greta I understand how difficult it can be to lose a loved one but trust me your mother is no longer here, she has went to a land unknown to us" Troluk allowed a tear to escape at the thought of his son's demise.

"But..., but I am sure there was at least something in that graveyard" Greta stomped and stomped but the chief paid her no attention whatsoever.

And after a few minutes of stomping Greta marched out of the hall, her heart set on proving herself right.
