"She's bleeding," Inés said, her voice trembling with fear.
Damien's head snapped toward her immediately.
Without hesitation, he strode toward Jacqueline and shifted back into his human form.
Jacqueline blinked slowly. One second the massive gray wolf had been standing before her, and the next Damien stood there instead.
Inés moved deeper into the room. She grabbed a few clothes from a nearby van and began tossing them out. A large shirt went to Arianna, shorts to Santiago, and after a brief pause she handed another pair of shorts to Damien.
He pulled them on quickly.
"Jacq," he whispered softly.
Jacqueline only blinked at him, saying nothing.
Her gaze drifted downward, settling on the claw marks across his chest that were already beginning to heal.
Then her eyes shifted toward Inés, who stood near the door.
Jacqueline's foot faltered.
Her legs trembled as if the strength had drained out of them entirely. She swayed, about to collapse
