"You look beautiful," Charlotte said brightly, her voice full of genuine delight.
Jacqueline smiled at her, warmth flickering in her chest. "Thank you for making me look beautiful."
Charlotte immediately shook her head, dismissing the credit. "I didn't do anything, really. I barely know anything about makeup. You took your shower, and I only helped you with the dress that's all. You're naturally beautiful, Jacqueline."
A faint blush crept across Jacqueline's cheeks, and she lowered her gaze, suddenly shy under the sincerity of the compliment.
"I'm really glad you found my brother," Charlotte continued softly. "I don't think I'll ever be able to thank you enough for bringing Damien back to who he used to be."
Jacqueline stilled, her eyes lifting to Charlotte's face.
"I didn't do anything," she murmured.
