She gasped.
Dark onyx eyes were already on her.
Deep. Intense. Calm yet consuming, like darkness wrapped around something endless and serene.
He was awake.
And staring directly at her.
Panic surged. Instinctively, her hands flew to his chest as she tried to push him away, desperate to create even a sliver of distance but he didn't budge.
Not even an inch.
"Stop moving."
His voice was low, rough with sleep and it sent her heart into complete chaos.
She struggled harder, but he only pulled her even closer, tucking her into him as his face dipped into the curve of her neck. He inhaled deeply, his breath warm against her skin.
She went rigid.
Completely still.
