The next day was different for me. I hadn't been able to function properly since I got the news.

When Alpha Hades had said those words memories flooded back instantly. The last time I had seen him was at the mating ceremony. The cold look in his eyes when he had commanded that I was to be killed. Cold fear spread through my chest again.
If the Alpha King was coming here, then something was wrong. Every passing minute increased my anxiety. My palms were clammy.
What if he was coming here to make sure I was killed?
I was trying not to panic but I couldn't help myself. I could shake the unsettling feeling off.
"You're pacing."
Carina's voice came from behind and I jolted. I stopped and looked down. I sighed when I realized that I had been pacing.
"Ohhh" that was the only word that managed to leave my mouth.
"You walked past that chair seven times."
Seven times? It show how disconnected I had been with the environment.
