The moment the doors closed behind me, I knew I was one sentence away from losing his temper.The royal study assigned to his uncle was quiet. A fire crackled in the hearth and wine sat untouched on the table. The Alpha King stood beside the window overlooking the pack. As though he owned the place which technically he did.
But tonight, I found myself caring very little about technicalities.
"You summoned me."
The King didn't turn around immediately. He continued looking outside watching whatever it was that caught his attention. Finally, he spoke.
"You embarrassed Lady Selene." I laughed. A short, humorless sound.
"Good."
The King slowly turned and his eyes narrowed. The expression would have intimidated most wolves but not me.
"You should learn when to keep your opinions to yourself."
"You should learn when to stop arranging marriages without my permission. Do you think I'm still that little boy that you can control?"
