"Luna?" I repeated dumbfounded I couldn't look away from the water.
"That's me?"
The question sounded ridiculous, even inside my own head. Of course it was me.
I could feel every movement, every breath, every beat of my heart.
"Why now?" I whispered into my mind. "Why did you wait until now to come to me?" A warmth stirred deep inside me.
"I waiting for you to discover me" My throat tightened. A tear slipped from my eye.
All those years of being beaten, humiliated, and treated like I was less than everyone else. All those nights I had curled up in a cold corner, wishing someone would come for me. I had thought I was alone through all of it.
"Why couldn't I feel you?"
"Because you were fighting to survive. And I was waiting for you to find the strength to live."
I closed my eyes. I took a shaky breath and opened my eyes again.
"I'm not afraid of you." Warmth spread through my chest.
"Good." She whispered.
"You could have introduced yourself a little sooner." I hated.
