Iris
I knew something was wrong the moment I entered Hades's chambers and found him staring at a cup of untouched wine.
He stood beside the window, dressed in black trousers and a dark shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows. The fading sunlight touched the hard lines of his face, but it did nothing to soften his expression. His shoulders were tense, his jaw was clenched.
And when I stepped inside, he didn't even turn around. I paused beside the door.
"Should I come back later?"
"No."
The answer came quickly, but he still didn't look at me. I closed the door behind me.
"You're going to have to do better than that if you expect me to believe nothing is wrong." That earned me a glance over his shoulder.
"Since when did you become an expert at reading my expressions?"
"Since you started making that face whenever something bothers you."
"I don't make a face."
"You do. It's the one you're making now."
