Treading on the air, Might Guy turned into a phantom and charged at Nagato, his clenched fists swinging out airwaves that roared like a fierce tiger.
"Hirudora!"
The pillar of light from air friction took the form of a tiger, as magnificent as the sun at high noon, radiating light as it pounced toward Nagato. Nagato, however, remained indifferent.
"Unless you reach the Gate of Death, it's all useless against me!"
Speaking coldly, he again controlled the gravitational force to be compressed like a blade, casually swinging it to cut the pouncing air tiger. In an instant, the entire air tiger was split in two, booming to the left and right of Nagato's body without affecting him at all.
"Come! Open all of your Eight Gates! Only then will you have a slim chance of victory!"
Looking at Nagato, who appeared as calm and indifferent as a god, killing so many Ninjas as if brushing away dust, Might Guy took a long breath: "Even if you didn't say it, I would show you! This is the crystallization of eighteen years of my youthful sweat! Witness my final brilliance!"
"Eight Gates—Eighth Gate—Gate of Death, Open!"
A faint red vapor slightly diffused out before being compressed back into his body by the training suit. Relying on the suit's reinforcement of his internal meridians, Might Guy barely suppressed the constantly rampaging Chakra, but the intense pain still made him gasp.
Although the current Might Guy, with Vegapunk's help, had a physical constitution even greater than during the final battle in the original story, he lacked nearly ten years of self-restraint and tempering. His will was still slightly inferior to the original, which caused him to pause for a moment due to the pain after opening the Gate of Death.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Nagato, who had been indifferent, flickered and disappeared into the air.
Might Guy looked at the vanished Nagato, his expression stiffening. Where was he? He was just acting all cool a moment ago, so how did he disappear now?
..."Only an idiot would fight to the death with someone who has opened the Gate of Death. I just wanted to collect some data on the Eight Gates."
Nagato murmured to himself as he walked through a dark corridor, a smile appearing on his lips.
The training suit Might Guy wore was certainly not given for free; it contained small chips recording all the changes in Guy's body. Although the Eight Gates were simple and crude with little technical content, the data of a human body in a state where its potential is fully unleashed was very valuable for research, at least to determine the limits of the human body.
Even if Vegapunk could create suicide squads that used the Eight Gates, such people could never be compared to someone like Might Guy, who relied entirely on his own cultivation.
When Might Duy opened the Eight Gates, he could only turn the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist into a joke; when Might Guy opened the Eight Gates, he almost kicked his way to the series finale. Those Guys forced to open the Eight Gates by Vegapunk were not even as good as Might Duy; generally, they would turn completely to ash after a single strike, at most being able to pull off a desperate one-for-one trade.
So the Eight Gates themselves were not actually important; what was truly important were the father and son who could consistently cultivate the Eight Gates!
Naturally, as another clone of Vegapunk, the reason Nagato forced Might Guy to open the Gate of Death was actually just to collect data.
"I wonder if the training suit can save Might Guy... forget it, leave it to fate! Hehe, I can already feel Uzumaki Naruto's mark getting closer and closer to me. As expected, it was your doing, Danzo!"
To secretly take Uzumaki Naruto away instead of supporting the Third Hokage—besides Danzo's Root, it was unlikely anyone else in Konoha would do such a thing.
With Nagato having torn through all of Konoha, only Danzo still had the mind to play these tricks. Other Ninjas were either protecting their clans, arranging civilian evacuations, or fighting Nagato... only Danzo's Root was still curled up at the very bottom of the Hokage Rock, barely moving.
Indeed, Danzo's Root was also here at the Hokage Rock. It must be said, this place was truly a blessed land; the hollow center of the mountain became a shelter for Konoha's civilians, and the very bottom had been dug into a cave, serving as the headquarters for Konoha's Root.
