Several hours later, at the hospital, Dennis and Daisy sat in the lobby waiting for the next update from the police. They had already been examined and questioned, their statements bolstered by the video footage Sami had recorded and saved on Dennis's smartphone. The police had already identified the man; he was a lifer on their records who had escaped from Aquamarine City.
However, he was currently in such a half-dead state that, even as a dhampir, it would take at least a month for him to recover. Dennis turned to look at Daisy's neck, now bandaged where Norman had bitten her. He clenched his fist again, his emotions steadying despite a brief flare of anger.
"Is your neck still hurting, honey?" Dennis asked, trying to keep his temper in check.
"No, it's actually already healed. Remember, Number Two is also a dhampir and clearly much stronger than that man," Daisy answered casually, touching her bandage.
