Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: The Trial of Illusions

Deep within the hidden valley, the five disciples stood in a circle around Master Kiran.

The evening air was cool, and the stars shone faintly above the mountain peaks.

For the past several months, they had trained their bodies, refined their breathing, and learned the principles of discipline and moral conduct.

Tonight, their training would enter a new stage.

Master Kiran raised his hand.

"It is time for you to experience battle.

Rohan's eyes lit up.

"Real battle?"

Master Kiran shook his head.

"Not yet."

"With your current strength, a true fight against powerful beasts would carry unnecessary risk."

He pointed to the ground.

"Instead, I have prepared an illusion formation."

The students looked around.

Only then did they notice the faintly glowing lines carved into the earth, forming a large circular array.

Ancient symbols pulsed with soft light.

The formation had been created by Krishak's clone using advanced spiritual techniques far beyond anything Earth currently understood.

Within the illusion, the students would feel fear, pain, and pressure as though the battles were real.

But they would not suffer lasting injuries.

Master Kiran's voice became solemn.

"Today, you will face two types of opponents.

"Beasts."

"And humans."

He looked at each student.

"Both are dangerous."

"But they are dangerous in different ways."

The students nodded.

One by one, they stepped into the formation.

Light rose around them.

The world changed.

Rohan found himself standing in a dense forest.

Leaves rustled.

A low growl echoed nearby.

A massive black wolf emerged from the shadows.

Its eyes were cold and predatory.

The beast did not taunt him.

It did not hesitate.

It attacked instantly.

Rohan barely avoided the initial lunge.

The wolf's claws tore through his sleeve.

He counterattacked with a punch to the ribs.

The beast staggered, then circled to strike again.

After a fierce exchange, Rohan finally defeated it.

The illusion faded.

He returned to the formation breathing heavily.

Master Kiran asked, "What did you learn?"

Rohan wiped sweat from his forehead.

"It attacked directly."

"Once it chose me as prey, it didn't stop."

Master Kiran nodded.

"Correct."

He addressed the group.

"Beasts are guided primarily by instinct."

"They attack based on hunger, territory, fear, or dominance."

"Their methods may be simple, but they are relentless."

"If you hesitate, they will exploit your weakness immediately."

Next, Meera entered the formation.

She appeared in a ruined street facing a young swordsman.

He smiled politely.

"You seem talented."

Without warning, he threw dust into her eyes and attacked from her blind side.

Meera retreated and narrowly avoided defeat.

The opponent feigned injury, lured her forward, and launched another hidden

attack.

Only after adapting to his deception did she secure victory.

When the illusion ended, Meera's expression was thoughtful.

Master Kiran asked, "What was different?"

Meera answered quietly.

"He lied."

The other students looked at her.

Master Kiran nodded.

"Yes."

"Humans possess intelligence, ambition, and emotion."

"They may use deception, traps, negotiation, and betrayal."

"Never assume that a smiling face is harmless."

Master Kiran drew two columns in the dirt.

Beasts

Act primarily on instinct.

Rarely hide their intentions.

Attack directly and relentlessly.

Exploit hesitation.

Humans

Use strategy and deception.

Can conceal their true motives.

Cooperate, betray, or manipulate.

Exploit trust and emotion.

He turned to the students.

"Which is more dangerous?"

After a moment, Arun answered.

"Humans"

Master Kiran smiled faintly.

"Often, yes."

The students then faced more complex scenarios.

The twins fought a pack of coordinated beasts.

Arun confronted bandits who attempted to intimidate and deceive him.

Rohan battled a human opponent who deliberately provoked his temper.

Each scenario exposed weaknesses in judgment, discipline, and emotional control.

When they finally emerged from the formation, all five were exhausted.

Master Kiran stood before them as the formation's light faded.

"Strength alone is insufficient."

"To survive, you must understand your opponent."

He looked toward the distant stars.

"A beast reveals its killing intent."

"A human may hide it behind a smile."

He let the words sink in.

"Learn to read both."

Far away in his academy dormitory,

Krishak opened his eyes after monitoring the training through his clone.

The lesson had gone well.

His disciples had taken another important step.

If they continued on this path, they would become far more than ordinary

Awakeners.

They would become true cultivators.

Krishak looked out at the night sky.

The seeds he had planted were beginning to grow.
