Due to the raging storm outside, Davis insisted that no one leave the Staniforth estate for the night. Lorenzo and Andreas retreated to their old suites—the rooms they'd once occupied before moving out—while Xanthe and Ashley were led to the guest wing.
So far, Xanthe's plan was unfolding exactly as she'd hoped. And it got even better when she discovered Ashley's room was directly next to hers.
PERFECT!
She needed to clear the tension between them. At least enough to explain what had really happened that day. If Ashley understood, maybe she wouldn't despise Lorenzo so much. . . and, hopefully, wouldn't stab her in her sleep.
But for now, she needed to deal with the biggest obstacle in their relationship.
ANDREAS.
Just as Xanthe pushed open her door, she came face-to-face with Ashley. She stood right there, arms crossed, eyes locked on her with the glare of a serial killer.
