During a masquerade ball, there would always be a lights out slow dance. My plan was to get to the chandelier and make it fall right as the Baron was in the middle. If I do it during the lights out event, I could escape safely without anyone seeing me.
So I waited on the rafters, staying low for the lights out event. After twenty minutes of waiting, it finally happened.
A slow jazz song was playing and the royals started finding partners to dance with.
I knew the baron was wearing a shiny reflective golden mask, so I was keeping an eye out for it. The butlers were holding candles so the room wasn't completely dark.
I soon spotted the Baron of Ciale and locked my eyes on him.
He was getting closer and closer to the middle of the chandelier.
But as I was getting ready to cut it I heard a shrieking voice behind me.
"Ahhh, there's a black man on the roof!"
It was an old lady who looked like the Baron's mother. I hurriedly cut the chandelier and climbed to the rafters to the side of the manor I started from.
Screams rose among the crowd. Everybody started running out of the manor, fearing for their life. But the knights guarding it were elsewhere.
Before I could get away from the Baron's property, knights were already surrounding the perimeter.
I was on the edge of the second floor roof, trying not to be seen.
As I was taking in the situation, I realized I only had one option.
