Amara's POV :
Roman closed the door behind him and stood there looking at me.
I couldn't read his expression. His face was blank and his shoulders were tight and he had that look CEOs got when they were about to fire someone.
"So," he said. "A hotel."
I stayed where I was standing by the bed. "It's not what it looks like."
"What it looks like is that my girlfriend was photographed going into the Belmont alone and staying for thirty minutes before leaving." He pulled out his phone and held it up. The article filled the screen with those damning photos of me walking out looking guilty. "What it looks like is that I'm either an idiot or you're cheating on me. Those are the only two options people see."
"I wasn't cheating."
"I know that."
The words surprised me enough that I blinked. "You do?"
