Ralph and Armand are still waiting for the witch's trial to start so that they can save Arabelle. She might be really scared being in the dungeon. They are both worried about her so much. Ralph wanted to bust into the dungeon to take her out of there already. While Armand tries his best to stay rational about it. They can't break the law of the past since there are consequences. That calms Ralph a little bit but he still wants to take Arabelle home soon.
The town of Merced starts looking ugly now that they are being affected by it. They need to get out of that place the moment they get Arabelle. Something bad might continue to happen the longer they stay there. It's better to just let the past stay in the past. Even if Ralph feels comfortable in that place, he no longer belongs there. He already lived in the modern times. That's his home now even if he needs to hide from the darkness there.
