Synopsis
In the world of Eclipse of Ascension, a massive event known as The Decent occurred in 2026 when the game Limit Eclipse merged with reality. This phenomenon brought game-like quests, monsters, and "Limit Breaks" into the physical world, leading to the formation of The World Council to maintain order. Two hundred years later, the story follows Reid Ivers, a young man living in this altered reality.

Chapter 1 - A Dream.

As the fire raged, it started to cause other parts of the house to be engulfed by flames. By the time Reid noticed what was happening, the whole first floor of the house was aflame and there was no way to stop it.

As Reid caught his bearings to go warn his family, he heard a woman's scream. As soon as he heard it, he ran off like a cheetah, and when he got there, he saw two humanoid figures in the smoke. Reid launched foward, but when he broke through the fire to find the source of the scream, he saw two faceless individuals. Reid payed them no mind as if they weren't even there as he started to drag the two limp bodies across the scorching ground. He inhaled a puff of smoke and coughed. When the cough escaped his mouth, it sounded muffled and sore, as if his vocal cords were tearing apart.

Reid had the door in his sights, but he then suddenly felt weak, like he was losing blood. When he looked down he saw the smaller, more masculine figure clawing at his leg, saying, "You... could've saved... us."

Reid looked away from the small figure and continued to move through the flames, paying no mind to what the small figure said. Reid heard a creaking sound from above, and a second later, a part of the roof fell on top of the larger, more feminine figure.

While the smaller figure continued to spout hurtful insults Reid's way, Reid began to lift the debris from the larger figure. The larger figure then pulled it's faceless head up as if to look at Reid.

"It's all... your... fault", the strange figure said.

Reid strangely felt immense pain in his heart hearing those words, but it didn't stop his desire to save these two figures, even if it cost him his life. Reid finally pulled the debris off the larger figure and dragged it away. Reid frantically turned his head towards the door and ran to it as if his life depended on it. By the time he reached the door, his legs were laced with gashes and cuts due to the smaller figure's constant scratching. Reid opened the door and saw white.

As the adrenaline was wearing of from physical strain he was enduring to get out of the burning house, Reid looked around and saw nothing but white, stretching across what seemed to be forever. Reid turned around and saw that the buring house that he just escaped from was completely gone, replaced by the same white that was surrounding him on all sides.

"Hey! Wake up," a strange and unfamiliar voice stated.

Reid looked in front of him and saw a figure in the distance. He began to run towards that voice to get answers about 'Why?' and 'Where?' he was, but when Reid got close enough to see his face, he suddenly felt an immense hatred that he didn't recall feeling towards anyone but one person.

The man's form was completely faceless, except for his exceptionally dazzling sapphire blue eyes.

"Who are you? Tell me... why do I feel so angry looking into your eyes?" Reid exclaimed, being both angry like never before, and confused as to why he was so angry.

The figure, who looked neither male nor female, opened its mouth and was about to say something, when suddenly, without warning, Reid woke up.

Reid was currently gasping for air. He then looked up at the man who shook him awake with hatred and said, "Do you... uhhh, know what you just did?".

The man, who Reid was looking at, then scoffed, ignoring the question, and instead, asked one of his own. "Correction. Not, 'do you you know what you just did?', more like, 'Ahh, where am I?"

The man that seemed to have captured Reid was a tall, imposing man with slightly tanned skin and what looked like burns in some spots. He a pair of hazel brown eyes and no hear on his head, but he also had a massive scar slashed down the centre of his face.

Reid was not looking for a laugh, but instead, answers.

In an unpleasant tone, he asked, "Who are you? and why am I being held captive?"

The man, after hearing this once again, scoffed and walked away. Reid looked around, trying to assess his situation. He saw that he was in what looked like an old, run-down cabin in the middle of nowhere. He looked down because he felt something on waist, wrists and ankles. They were steel chains binding him to a wooden armchair. Reid also saw that a beautiful golden ring with blue streaks running across the surface was on his middle finger.

Upon seeing the ring on his finger, Reid let out a sigh of relief and thought to himself, "Thank god. It's still there."

Reid looked up and turned his head left and right and said in a slightly worried tone, "Oh... lucky me."

He reacted that way because he noticed that the two views out the windows were different.

In the left window there was a scene of molten lava flowing out of a volcano, heading right towards them, but on the right there was a different view in the window. In the right window, there was a scene of big, tall trees that seemed to reach the heavens.

This means that his kidnappers are using high-teir tech equipment known as an illusion field. An illusion field is a device that can simulate any environment at all. The actual illusion can't be destroyed unless you destroy the device, but the only problem is that the device is as small a finger and can also turn invisible. This type of technology is usually used by criminals, but this specific device was made by a wanted the people know as Loki. They are believed to be a high ranking unlocker and maybe even a Stage 5.

But no one has ever been able to catch him due to his abilities.

Then, a man walked up to Reid, but this was a different man to before, this man looked friendlier, but held a scary presence to him that sent shivers down Reid's spine. The new, and creepy man had long brown hair that reached his shoulders. Lifeless eyes that seemed to not have a colour at all, and pale-white skin, making him resemble a ghost.

The creepy man then shouted with an unsettling smile across his features, "Hey, boss, can I hurt him?."

Upon hearing that, Reid instinctively tightened his grip on the arm chair he was sitting in.

This action didn't go unnoticed.

As the new man saw this, his already unsettling smile only grew before finally reaching his eyes. He then said, "Are you scared?."

Before Reid could answer that question with denial, another voice rang out saying, "Sure, but get information."

The creepy man turned his head as the other man continued to speak. "Oh, and don't kill him."

After hearing that, the creepy man turned his head to stare Reid straight in the eyes as he said, "This is going to be fun."

The creepy man laid his hands on the wooden armchair and slowly opened his mouth to say, "We can do one of two ways. Your choice. One: you tell us what we need, and I won't hurt you that badly."

He then licked his lips before, in a high pitched voice, saying, "Or, you can resist, and I can hurt you a lot."

"Bring it on," Reid replied in confidence.

The creepy man then turned around and walked away, towards a trolly that had what appeared to be a bunch of torture devices.

He walked back, but this time he was rolling the trolly in front of him.

Reid got a good look at some of the devices on the trolly and flinched slightly. There were a pair of tweezers that had blood stains on it. As well as that, there was something that resembled a brander. They also had a regular old bat.

The creepy man picked up the bat and struck Reid across the face, hard, causing him to spit blood.

With a sadistic smile clearly playing on his features, he then said, "Ohh, this is going to be fun."
