Chapter 53 - ball Mikaelson 1

"Kol... where have you been?" Rebekah asked irritably. "I had to deal with school all day on my own."

"Weren't you the one who wanted to go to school?" Kol mocked, sitting down on the couch where Rebekah was. "Move over."

"I saw something today that shouldn't exist," Kol said, his tone completely hypnotized. "A vampire using magic."

All the Originals looked at Kol as if he were crazy.

"What are you talking about? Have you finally lost your mind?" Rebekah snarled, pretending to move away from him.

"Yeah, I heard about it," Klaus replied indifferently. "That so-called witch-vampire hybrid, Nik Bennett, right?"

"What? A vampire-witch hybrid?" Rebekah shouted in shock. "How is that even possible?"

"I don't know… All I know is he killed several of my hybrids because he decided to take Katherine with him and didn't like that I sent hybrids to get her back," Klaus sighed, shaking his head. "He even dared me to send something stronger next time."

Kol went quiet… and looked at Klaus.

"But it wasn't a man," Kol said, now completely confused. "It was a girl."

"What is going on in this city?" Finn asked from the doorway. "Seriously? Vampire-witch hybrids shouldn't exist."

"It was an Asian girl, wasn't it?" Elijah asked, adjusting the sleeve of his suit as he looked at Kol.

"Wait… how do you know that?" Kol asked, standing up and facing Elijah. "You knew this whole time there were vampires with magic in this town and didn't tell us?"

"I fought them," Elijah replied with a sigh. "And I was stabbed before I could find them again."

"Them? You're saying there's more than one?" Rebekah growled. "What do you mean there's more than one?"

"As far as I know, they are mother and daughter. I tried to recruit them… but their loyalty is already decided, and they are married," Elijah sighed again, "to the same boy… a human."

"Ohhh, I met him," Kol said. "Lucky guy… he's got two vampires all to himself."

"I don't understand this," Rebekah muttered.

"You wouldn't understand, sister," Klaus replied, amused. "But besides the fact that these vampires have magic—and there's another one—what else aren't you telling us?"

Everyone looked at Elijah.

"There's a third one… a blonde… Caroline, I think that's her name," Elijah began. "She's always around the Bennett witch. She's at least 900 years old and has fire magic. Not as much potential as the other two, but when I fought her, she used magic freely and didn't show as much exhaustion as the others."

"Caroline… so she has magic too?" Klaus murmured, irritated. "Apparently she's dating that witch hybrid and is very loyal to him. She ignored all my advances… I always thought she was brave—now I see she's confident."

"So it works with age," Kol said thoughtfully. "I noticed the girl's powers seemed to mummify her… so it's like normal vampire abilities. If you use too much, you get hungry."

"And?" Finn asked.

"They use magic powered by their vampirism and are still bound by vampire rules," Kol explained. "So maybe it's not something exclusive… maybe it's something we just don't understand yet. This Nik—do you know him?"

"No… everything I know is what Klaus said. I didn't even know this hybrid existed," Elijah replied.

That's when Esther appeared at the door.

"My children, it's time for us to make a presentation to the city, to show that we have arrived," Esther said proudly. "It's time to reunite our family."

"But we're all here, mother," Rebekah said.

"Not yet… one is still missing to complete this…" Esther didn't say it out loud—she only thought it.

"Found it!" Nik sneezed while playing with a puzzle, Katherine beside him with a mischievous, childlike expression.

"Bless you," she said in a playful tone.

"Thank you," Nik smiled, patting her head, making her giggle.

"Mr. Nik, you received a letter," Amara said, walking in wearing a maid's apron, holding an envelope. "An invitation to the Mikaelson ball."

"Ohhh," Nik smiled, taking the letter. "Time to meet my father, huh? But what are you wearing?"

"Miss Caroline and Miss Bonnie told me to wear this and do housework since I'm staying here for free," Amara said with a smile. "At least now I have a place to live."

"Okay," Nik simply accepted the madness of his sister and girlfriend when it came to Amara.
