Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Space Currency

"So, all I have to do is get more crystals to keep this space living?"

'Yes master, that's exactly what you need to do. At the moment, you have enough energy to allow entrance for 5 humans, this includes yourself. The more crystals brought over, the more people can enter'

"What about animals and plants? Do they take up energy?" I asked. We got to get the important questions out.

'Don't worry master, you can allow animals and plants to enter and live here free of cost. However, humans are a different story. It has a lot to do with the contract formed with this space. When the space was created, the elders took into account that you would form a family. Your future children and their children can enter, as long as your DNA runs through their blood. In order to allow non-blood relatives in, a trade had to be made. Crystals provide spiritual energy, and humans must pay their entrance fee. This will keep the space from collapsing and also everyone works together to maintain a safety net at their disposal. Once you contract others to enter, they are forbidden to speak of this space to anyone else. Should they try to let any information out, they will be punished. Should any one under contract try to harm you, the space will terminate their soul from existence.'

"Do you mean that this space can control their life or death?" Could this space really work so much in my favor?

'Yes, so long as the contracted does not have thoughts about harming you they will live peacefully in here. Once the space detects any attempt against your life, it will take action. The space is a wonder of its own, I am the administrator of it. I will monitor everything that happens in the space, from farming to building, and other handy functions that you can read in the 'All about this space' manual.'

"Okay, how do I access this manual?"

*Ding*

The same system window that I saw earlier today popped up. Under Host Folder was the manual. I really did not want to spend my time reading it. "Do I have to read this or can you just tell me what needs to be known?"

'I have memorized the manual and am read to answer any questions you may have.'

"Okay, I have a few questions I'd like to ask. How does time move here?"

'Master, A minute outside is equivalent to one day in here.'

Consider my mind blown. "So, 30 days in here is equivalent to 30 minutes outside?"

'That is correct. This is to allow you to properly rest and train. Also the farming is at a faster growth rate. What would take a season to grow outside will grow in a few days in here. Also, you have a function to build your own home. Of course, you would have to provide the materials and enough energy source for it.'

I could really kiss this Oddy, if he had an actual body to kiss. This was a god-sent gift. I felt my eyes sting, I was getting emotional here. I mean, how could I not. I suffered so much in my previous life. I lost my beauty, health, wealth, family and friends. I was numb to life. Everyday, I woke up begging for death. Once I died, I was reborn into this healthy body, I have a great family, I am beautiful again. I also inherited this amazing space and have a cutie little pet and now this very helpful system! How could I not feel like these were blessings! Sure, I'd have to go hunting for crystals, but how many malls have high end jewelry at my disposal. I've always wanted to go on a zero dollar shopping spree.

"Originally, when I entered, I had noticed there was a shed. Is that the living quarters?"

'Yes, at the moment, the bamboo home is your living quarters. If you wish to upgrade, please collect the needed supplies, provide a blue print of what the design should be like, and provide enough energy source.'

"So the energy source is also somewhat of a currency for living in the space?"

'Yes, it seems to be the case.'

"Okay, thank you. That will be all for tonight. I am tired and wish to get some rest"

I heard a ding sound notifying that the system went on to carry other duties. I turned and saw Alyanna resting her head. It seemed as if she fell asleep during my conversation with Oddy. Okay than, let her sleep.

I exited the space and decided to go to bed. Tomorrow would be a new day. Which also meant a day closer to doomsday.

Killian's P.O.V.

Penelope sure has great taste. Her house felt cozy. It felt the way a home should feel. Warm and welcoming. A feeling I haven't felt since my parents' death.

She was serious about the groceries though. She barely had enough to make something fulfilling. Luckily I ordered groceries to be delivered. Along with the million other things I requested to be delivered here.

Strangely enough, she texting me to stay out of two bedrooms. Something about it being her brother's domain. So, she has territorial brothers. Good to know. As I was walking up the stairs towards my new bedroom, I was playing with my father's ring. A simple solid black diamond ring that has been in my family for generations. It is said to be something created by our ancestors. I usually tend to wear this on a silver chain, my dad told me this was special and should always stay by me. The same day my parents died was the same day my father handed this precious treasure over.

I somehow lost my balance and held onto the railing to prevent myself from any injuries. I don't know how it happened, but my palm was cut during the process. Blood started seeping out of my hand and I squeezed my hand into a fist to stop the bleeding. I was holding the ring with that same hand.

Everything happened so fast. I could not understand what was happening. One second I was holding on for dear life, and the next I was staring a vast grassy land. I saw mountains a few miles away from the grassy land and a bamboo shed. Everything else had a dense layer of fog blocking my view. I was scared to move. What if what I was seeing was an illusion and I was really still at the staircase. If I moved, wouldn't I still fall? Sure I would not die, but I would surely be injured. I couldn't just stand here, could I? I had to make a choice. So, I took my first step forward, towards the fog. Praying that I was not seeking death.
