Nicholas's room was exactly as he had left it.
The bed was made, His desk was organized.....papers stacked neatly, pens arranged in a holder.
Personal items scattered throughout. Books on pack law and supernatural politics. A framed photograph of him with Sebastian and Lucian from years ago....all three of them younger and smiling.
And on the nightstand....
A journal.
Lilith crossed to it slowly and picked it up with shaking hands.
The leather was worn. Well-used. This was something Nicholas had written in regularly.
She should not read it. Should not invade his privacy this way.
But he was gone. And this was all that remained of him.
Lilith opened the journal to a random page and started reading.
The bonds are pulling tighter. I can feel Lilith even when she's not in the room. Her emotions. Her pain. Her fear about the curse. It's like being connected to someone who's slowly dying and being unable to do anything except watch.
