"He's right," Lucian said. "I saw what you did, Lilith. The demons you destroyed. The power you wielded. You're getting stronger. More controlled. And when the real attack comes....when they mobilize with everything they have....you're going to be ready."
Lilith wanted to believe them.
But all she could see was the destruction. The wounded. The evidence that being near her made everyone she loved a target.
Victoria helped Lilith to her feet. "Come on. You need rest. Magical depletion is dangerous if left untreated."
They started walking toward the main building.
Around them, pack members were already working. Clearing debris. Repairing walls. Tending to the wounded.
The resilience of a pack that had survived impossible things before and would survive them again.
Agnes appeared with blankets and hot tea. "Luna. You're hurt. Let me...."
"I'm okay, Agnes," Lilith said. "Just tired. Check on the others first."
Agnes nodded and moved to help the wounded warriors.
