I could feel the heat rising in my body again, even without seeing his face.
Finnick must have noticed too, because I felt the faint curve of his smile against my hair. But this time, he didn't tease me further. Instead, he pulled the blanket over me, his movements calm and steady.
"Go to sleep," he murmured.
I rested against his chest, my cheek pressed lightly against him. Beneath me, his heartbeat was strong and even. For some reason, that steady rhythm soothed everything inside me.
It was strange.
He could make my heart race out of control… and in the next moment, calm me completely.
That night, I slept deeply.

In the days that followed, Finnick stayed.
Always.
Sometimes people came into the ward to discuss pack matters with him. Important things, urgent things. But no matter what it was, he never left for long. His presence remained constant, like something unshakable.
And every night, he shared the bed with me.
I didn't mind.
