Chapter 71 - The Aftermath and Friendship

Keifer's POV

The classroom was hummed with the usual low drone of Section E's chatter. I was leaning against my desk, watching them work through a tactical drill, when the air in the room suddenly changed. It wasn't a sound—it was a feeling. A cold shiver that raced down my spine.

Then, the screens flickered.

Edrix, his fingers usually dancing across his keyboard with bored indifference, suddenly froze. His face went ghostly white, the blue light of his monitors reflecting in his wide eyes.

"Keifer..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "Something's wrong. The GPS on Jay's phone... it just spiked and went dark. And the security feed from the hallway—it's been looped."

The room went silent. The boys of Section E looked up, their playful banter dying instantly. I didn't wait for him to finish. I was at his shoulder in a second. "Trace it, Edrix. Now!"

"I'm trying! They used a military-grade jammer," Edrix hissed, his hands blurring as he bypassed firewalls. "Got it! Building 12, Sector 4. An old warehouse. Keifer, there are multiple heat signatures moving in."

The rage that sparked in my chest was unlike anything I had ever felt. It wasn't just anger; it was a cold, calculated need to destroy. "David, get everyone. Percy, Aries—we're moving."

The drive to the warehouse was a descent into madness. I didn't see the road; I only saw Jay. I saw her laugh, her defiance, the way she looked at me when she thought I wasn't watching.

If they hurt her... if they so much as touched her... I would burn the city to the ground to find the ashes of the man responsible.

When we burst through those warehouse doors, I expected to see jay alone in warehouse . I know she can fight but according to Edrix sato is here and he is dangerous.

The moment we stepped in I was shocked..

Jay was a whirlwind of lethal, focused violence. She was dismantling men twice her size with a grace that left me breathless.

Every strike she landed was a testament to her strength. I felt a surge of pride so fierce it almost choked me. That's my queen. That's my wife. That's my love.

Other girls were fighting too.

But then, Sato—that pathetic coward—pulled the gun

The sight of that barrel pointed at Jay's head stopped my heart. I felt my soul wither. When he screamed for me to kneel, I didn't care about my pride or the men watching. My knees hit the concrete with a sickening thud. I would have died a thousand deaths in that moment if it meant she lived.

BANG.

The sound shattered the air. I lunged forward as Sato's gun flew, and then I saw him. Yuri.

It had been three months. Three months since that name had poisoned our lives. He stood there with the police, looking like a shadow of a past I wanted to forget. I didn't give him the satisfaction of a word. I ran to Jay.

I caught her just as her eyes began to roll back, her body finally giving in to the exhaustion and the gas. "I've got you," I whispered, pulling her into my chest. "I've got you, my love."

Jay's POV

Coming back to consciousness was like trying to climb out of a deep, dark well filled with tar. My head felt heavy, a dull, thumping ache echoing behind my eyes. Every breath tasted like that bitter, metallic gas.

The warehouse... the fight... the gun...

I forced my eyes open. The hospital lights were blinding, a sharp contrast to the dim warehouse. I groaned, the sound small and pathetic in the quiet room.

"Jay? Jay, are you ok? Can you hear me ?"

A hand, warm and trembling, squeezed mine. I blinked, focusing on the face hovering over me. Keifer.

He looked like he'd aged ten years in a single night. His hair was a chaotic mess, and his eyes were red-rimmed with unshed tears.

"Keifer..." I croaked. "Are you... okay?"

He let out a jagged, broken laugh. "Am I okay? You're the one in a hospital bed, Jay. You're the one who just fought off a small army."

He leaned down, pressing his forehead against mine. "You terrified me."

"I'm fine," I whispered, though my head felt like it was spinning. "Just a little dizzy."

He immediately turned to the door. "Doctor! She's awake!"

Before the doctor could even enter, the door was thrown open. Percy , Aries and Angelo stormed in, their faces tight with a mixture of relief and murderous fury.

"I'm going to kill him," Percy hissed, pacing the foot of the bed. "I'm going to kill Yuri for bringing this to our doorstep. He dragged you into his mess, Jay. He let his past hunt you."

"You both always drag my sister in your mess",Aries said looking at me.

"Both of you, enough," Angelo muttered, though he gripped my other hand with a protective force that told me he was just as angry.

Then came the chaos. Section E poured into the room. Cin, the youngest of the lot, didn't even hesitate. He lunged forward and threw his arms around me, sobbing into my shoulder.

"I thought you were gone!" Cin wailed, his small frame shaking.

"Let me... breathe... you idiot!" I laughed, though it hurt my ribs. I patted his head, my heart softening at their genuine terror for me. The rest of the boys crowded around, their usual bravado replaced by frantic questions and "I-was-totally-going-to-save-you" stories.

The crowd shifted as Honey stepped forward. She looked different. The arrogance was gone. She sat on the edge of my bed and hugged me—not a polite hug, but a deep, soulful embrace.

"Thank you, Jay," she whispered. "For saving us. I didn't know... I didn't know you were that strong."

"You weren't so bad yourself, Honey," I smiled weakly. "That punch to the jaw? Impressive."

Honey laughed, a tear escaping her eye. She looked at the floor, then back at me. "Jay... I've been a bit of a brat. But after today... after seeing you fight for us... would you mind if we became friends? Real ones?"

"I'd like that," I said. "We can try."

The door crashed open again. Freya, Rakki, and Mica burst in like a storm. Freya didn't even wait—she shoved Cin aside and tackled me in a hug.

"You are a legend, Jay! A literal icon!" Freya screamed. "Seriously, if you ever get tired of Keifer, marry me. I'll be your wife. You're perfect!"

"Me too!" Rakki and Mica shouted in unison, their relief coming out in a wave of loud, hysterical laughter.

Kiefer looked at looked at boyd, shaking his head. "You guys better step up your game. Your girls are all in love with Jay now."

Honey stood up and walked to the other girls, holding out her hand. "Hey. New rule. We're all a squad now. No more drama. If we're going to be friends with Jay, we're friends with each other. Deal?".

The girls cheered, a chorus of "Deals!" echoing through the ward as they all piled into a massive group hug.

Finally, Angelo stepped in, his "Commander" voice returning. "Alright, that's enough! This is a recovery room, not a playground. Everyone out. Keifer amd Aries are staying. Girls you and the boys go home. The rest of you—out."

As the room cleared, leaving only the soft hum of the monitors and Keifer's steady presence, I finally let out the breath I'd been holding since the warehouse. I was safe. And for the first time, I felt like I truly belonged.
