Chapter 35 - Chapter 34: The Fractured Dawn.

The Nakano safehouse was lit only by a single desk lamp and the faint blue glow from Yuki's phone screen.

It was 4:42 a.m.

Haruto hadn't moved from the rooftop since the last heartbeat spike. Miya sat on the edge of the roof access door, legs dangling, sword across her lap. Yuki paced slowly—ice mist trailing his footsteps like smoke.

The second heartbeat had come again—stronger this time.

Not painful.

Just… present.

**[System Log – Internal Monitoring]**

**[Nox Core Integration: 1.7% → 2.1% in last 90 minutes.]**

**[Awakening Probability: 31% (rising). Estimated full manifestation: 42–60 hours.]**

**[Suppression Option: Available. Current stack: 1/3. Next suppression cost: -20% all stats for 24 hours.]**

Haruto stared at the notification.

He hadn't used suppression again.

Not yet.

Miya's voice cut the silence.

"You're not telling us everything."

Haruto turned.

She stood now, sword sheathed but hand resting on the hilt.

"The heartbeat. The visions. You're hiding how bad it is."

Haruto didn't deny it.

"It's accelerating. 2.1%. Every spike pushes the timeline forward."

Yuki stopped pacing.

"How bad?"

Haruto looked at them both.

"If it reaches critical mass—around 10%—Nox gains partial control. I'll feel him. Hear him constantly. Fight him inside my own head."

Miya's jaw tightened.

"And if it goes higher?"

Haruto's voice was steady.

"20%—he can manifest through me. Temporary takeover. Attacks. Destruction. I become the vessel."

Yuki's ice flared brighter—then dimmed.

"30%?"

Haruto met his eyes.

"I cease to exist. Sovereign path takes over. Nox wins. The Purge returns—here."

Silence.

Miya stepped closer.

"Then we stop it before 10%."

Haruto shook his head.

"Suppression buys time. But each use weakens me. Three safe stacks max. After that… permanent debuffs. Risk of core rupture."

Yuki crossed his arms.

"So we have two paths: suppress and weaken ourselves, or let it grow and fight an internal war."

Haruto nodded.

"Or the third path. The divine voice mentioned it. Sacrifice."

Miya's voice was sharp.

"What sacrifice?"

Haruto looked out at the city.

"I don't know yet. But it's coming. The voice said I'll know when the time comes."

Yuki exhaled sharply.

"We're not waiting for divine riddles. We act. Now."

He pulled out his phone.

"Ren's archives came in. Soul integration cases. Divine bargains. Entity sealing. There's a pattern."

Miya took the tablet from him.

"Ancient shrines. Sealing rituals. Blood pacts. Most require a vessel stronger than the entity—or willing sacrifice."

Haruto's expression darkened.

"I'm the vessel."

Miya looked up.

"But you're also stronger. Guardian path aligned you. Nox is weakened. Dormant. We can seal him before he wakes fully."

Yuki nodded.

"Kyoto shrine. The golden rift. The divine voice appeared there. Maybe it left something. A seal. A weapon. A way out."

Haruto stared at the skyline.

"Then we go back. Tonight."

Miya sheathed her sword fully.

"We leave in one hour. Pack light. Full gear. No holding back."

Yuki formed a thin ice blade—testing its edge.

"If Nox tries to surface early… we cut him down."

Haruto stood.

He looked at them—really looked.

"You don't have to do this. If it wakes… I might hurt you."

Miya stepped forward—close enough that he could see the lightning in her eyes.

"Try."

Yuki smirked.

"We've faced worse."

Haruto exhaled—long, slow.

He nodded.

"One hour."

They moved.

Gear packed in minutes—potions, suppressors, comms, weapons.

Haruto took one last look at the safehouse.

The heartbeat came again—slow, steady.

He placed a hand on his chest.

"Not today."

The trio left.

Kyoto waited.

The divine rift waited.

And inside Haruto, something ancient waited too.

The clock was ticking.
