Zaid and Liv stood frozen in the doorway. Their jaws dropped. Charles lay half-covered by a thin blanket, his golden hair loose around his face. Benjamin was nestled against his side, also barely covered, his pale skin scattered with red marks.
It was Ara who reached over and slid the door shut.
"We'll send someone if they haven't come out in an hour," she said, and dragged the other two away without another word.
Zaid and Liv were both speechless, though for different reasons.
"I knew about this," Liv said slowly. "But seeing Benjamin like that..." She stopped herself, her face flushing red. "I want to —" She shut her mouth.
Ara laughed. "Liv. You should find yourself a partner. Soon."
"That's easier said than done," Liv replied. She was still daydreaming about the sight she had just seen.
"Did you know?" Zaid asked, watching Ara.
