Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: The Battle Begins

He scrutinized Gu Yue for a few moments, a strange look in his eyes.

Arthur could naturally guess that Gu Yue intended to develop her future at Shrek. He felt a bit of sentiment, hoping she wouldn't regret it later.

Climbing the ranks in a place like Shrek, filled with Divine Beings—he wondered if she would go mad... Suddenly, the soul-guided spotlights in the center of the arena lit up, illuminating the entire combat zone as if it were broad daylight.

The seven members of East Sea Academy took the stage one by one, lining up in a row with Arthur standing at the very front.

On the opposite side, the Shrek team had an additional unfamiliar youth; he was thin and frail, yet he stood in the lead position.

After the referee announced the rules of the match, the countdown began.

On the stage, the pre-match trash-talk phase began. The unfamiliar youth nodded slightly. "My name is Qian Wu."

As soon as Qian Wu finished speaking, his gaze locked onto Arthur. Despite his thin frame, his eyes were sharp, carrying a hint of nonchalant arrogance. "Are you Arthur?"

He chuckled, his tone filled with undisguised contempt. "You are indeed a Genius. Unfortunately, I'm here now."

"This is where it ends for you all."

Just as he spoke, five spirit rings—three purple and two black—emerged behind him.

Spirit King!

This was the first time a Spirit King-level contestant had appeared in the Tianhai Alliance Grand Competition.

The entire venue instantly fell into a dead silence, followed a second later by a deafening uproar.

"I watched your match the day before yesterday. It was pretty good."

"By the way, where's Gu Yue? Why didn't she take the field?"

"Though, it was the right choice for her not to come out."

Feeling the shock of the audience, the arrogance at the corners of Qian Wu's mouth deepened. He raised a hand and pointed at Arthur. "I'll give you a chance. Forfeit now, and you can save yourself some pain."

What on earth is he babbling about?

Arthur picked at his ear, not having listened to a single word. He seemed to have just snapped back to reality. "Huh? Are you finished?"

The arrogance on Qian Wu's face instantly froze, and his gaze turned cold. "I hope you can still act like this in a moment."

The countdown reached its end, and the referee finally shouted, "Let the match begin!"

At the referee's command, the arena was instantly flooded with the light of Soul Power.

Qian Wu and Arthur stood in place like two statues.

Arthur locked onto Qian Wu, but found that the other party wasn't moving at all, allowing his teammates to engage in the fray ahead of him.

Immediately, Xu Lizhi handed food to the others, then patted his bottom and ran toward the edge of the stage at the very back of the team.

Ning Xin summoned the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, and three streams of buffing light flew into everyone's bodies.

Blue lightning swirled around Yu Henglong. The moment his second spirit ring lit up, the phantom of a Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon's head appeared behind him.

"Thunder Dragon Claw," carrying crackling electric currents, lunged straight for Tang Wulin.

Tang Wulin was well-prepared. His Blue Silver Grass instantly surged, dense vines Binding the target, while he turned and shouted, "Zhang Yangzi!"

Zhang Yangzi's figure blurred as he worked with the Blue Silver Grass to block the Thunder Dragon Claw.

Simultaneously, Wang Jinxi had circled to the rear, swinging toward Yu Henglong's back with the sound of whistling wind.

Sensing the strong wind behind him, Yu Henglong roared. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon phantom suddenly expanded as his third spirit ring lit up.

"Thunderous Strike!"

Violent currents exploded outward with him at the center. Tang Wulin was startled to feel his Soul Power being rapidly consumed. He quickly released the Blue Silver Grass.

Wang Jinxi was also knocked off course by the current, smashing into the ground and sending debris flying everywhere.

"Na'er!" Arthur's voice was calm yet carried a penetrating power.

On the other side, Na'er—who had just forcibly shattered a defensive Soul Master's shield and was picking him up to slam him repeatedly against the ground—stopped her movements.

She turned her head and noticed that Tang Wulin and the other two could not hold back Yu Henglong.

For them at their current level, a Spirit Ancestor was still too powerful, not to mention that Yu Henglong's Martial Soul was not weak either.

Frowning slightly, the massive Golden Dragon phantom behind Na'er roared toward the heavens.

The roar made the arena hum and vibrate.

The pressure of the true Golden Dragon King spread out, mingled within the Golden Dragon.

Yu Henglong's expression changed drastically.

His Martial Soul was being suppressed!

How was this possible! He was a Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon; who could possibly suppress his Martial Soul?!

The pressure of the Golden Dragon King was like an invisible mountain, pressing down heavily on Yu Henglong's heart, causing the blue lightning Soul Power in his body to instantly stagnate.

The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon phantom let out a listless hiss and actually began to slowly dissipate.

He stared at Na'er in disbelief, his throat bobbing several times, unable to even utter a complete sentence. "You... your Martial Soul... how is it possible..."

Na'er's eyes were cold. Golden Soul Power surged around her as the phantom of a Golden Dragon Claw condensed into a tangible, sharp edge.

"Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon? Before me, you are nothing but a reptile."

Before her voice had even faded, her figure had already shot forward.

In an instant, she arrived in front of Yu Henglong and threw a punch!

Simultaneously, a Dragon Claw phantom appeared over her fist, aiming straight for his chest with the sound of breaking wind.

Yu Henglong subconsciously tried to activate his Soul Power for defense, only to find that the Soul Power in his body seemed frozen and difficult to mobilize. He could only watch helplessly as the Golden Dragon Claw drew near.

In the moment of crisis, the light from Ning Xin's Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda surged. Three streams of buffing light landed on Yu Henglong once more, barely allowing him to recover a sliver of mobility.

A tall, thin youth also arrived, riding the wind, and pulled Yu Henglong away. The two of them managed to create some distance, but it was of little use.

Na'er's terrifying power exploded. Even though they had moved some distance away, the two were still sent flying by the explosive force of the punch's wind.

"Boom!" The two slammed heavily against the protective barrier outside the stage, producing a dull, thunderous sound.

Blood spilled from the corners of their mouths simultaneously.

Yu Henglong struggled to stand, but found that a tearing pain was radiating from every bone and limb in his body. His Soul Power was in complete disarray, making it impossible to gather again.

The tall, thin youth was in slightly better condition, but his face was deathly pale. He clutched his chest and coughed violently, the light of his Martial Soul dimming until it was almost invisible.

Ning Xin's Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda trembled violently. Releasing buffs continuously had consumed a massive amount of her Soul Power, and her forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat.

Seeing this from another part of the battlefield, Ye Xinglan did not rush over. Instead, she continued to play house with Xie Xie and Xu Xiaoyan.

She had no Battle Intent to begin with, and Xu Xiaoyan was happy to keep it that way. The only serious one, Xie Xie, was completely no match for Ye Xinglan.

Through a subtle coincidence, the three were far from the center of the battlefield, trading move for move. It looked as if they were putting on a performance.

Moreover... she glanced in Arthur's direction.

A hint of curiosity flashed in the depths of Ye Xinglan's eyes. The true deciding factor of this match lay with Arthur and Qian Wu.

She knew that Qian Wu was a One-Word Battle Armor Master.

So, Arthur, what will you do?

...The situation in the arena became increasingly subtle. It seemed that East Sea Academy had firmly gained the upper hand.

One person from Shrek Academy had lost their combat effectiveness, and two had been blown off the stage. Additionally, there was Xu Lizhi, who had no combat capability.

Ning Xin was also at the end of her tether.

"Are you just going to watch?" Looking at Qian Wu opposite him, Arthur spoke with a helpless tone.

At first, he had thought the opponent was a master and prepared to entwine their Qi, locking onto his every move.

As it turned out, Qian Wu had no reaction at all and was full of openings. He didn't understand this stuff at all.

He was definitely a simpleton, without a doubt.
