Lin Xi arrived at the lounge attached to Duan Yiheng's office and knocked on the door. "Mr. Duan." A familiar, deep voice came from inside, slightly hoarse from just waking up: "Come in."
Lin Xi pushed the door open and went in. Duan Yiheng was still in bed. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, his pajamas loose, revealing his collarbone and chest. His short hair drooped over his forehead, partially obscuring his deep-set eyes. Lin Xi was momentarily embarrassed: "You're still not up?"
Duan Yiheng raised his hand, tapped his temples with his knuckles, and said, "I didn't fall asleep until 3 a.m." Lin Xi was startled: "Where's Qin Yang? Didn't he work overtime with you?" Duan Yiheng said:
"He's in a similar situation. He had to go to Rongke for negotiations today, and last night he was predicting the details and issues of the negotiations, so he was late." As he spoke, he frowned and muttered, "My head hurts." Lin Xi came to the bedside and said, "It's still early, shall I give you a massage?"
Duan Yiheng didn't respond immediately, but instead asked, "Why are you here so early?" Lin Xi said, "This morning's meeting is very important to me. I had something on my mind, so I got up early." She had nothing to do at home, so she simply came to the company. Duan Yiheng made room for her.
"Come on up." Lin Xi: "..." Duan Yiheng glanced at her: "How can I massage you if you don't come up?" "You want to lie on my lap?" Lin Xi shook her head, "No need, you lie down, I'll just squat by the bed."
"..." Duan Yiheng turned and lay down, "My legs are numb, don't say I'm not considerate." Lin Xi squatted down, gently placing her fingertips on Duan Yiheng's temples, then slowly massaging in circles, her movements soothing and gentle. Duan Yiheng chuckled:
"Grandpa used to enjoy it all, now it's finally my turn." Lin Xi: "...How's the strength?" Duan Yiheng hummed in agreement: "It's alright." Seeing his brow still furrowed, Lin Xi said:
"Director Xu can handle the meeting this morning, you should rest a bit more." Duan Yiheng chuckled: "Are you worried about me?" Lin Xi whispered: "No, it just doesn't make much difference whether you're here or not, I'll report back to you when I get back."
"You just said the morning meeting was very important to you." Duan Yiheng opened his eyes, "I'm worried." Lin Xi said: "You won't always be by my side, I want to learn to handle things myself." The room was quiet for a few seconds, then Duan Yiheng replied:
"Okay, call me if anything happens." "Okay." Lin Xi smiled, "It's almost time, does your head still hurt?" "Much better." Duan Yiheng sat up, "I'm going to take a shower, go hang up your clothes and bring them over."
Duan Yiheng's lounge, apart from being a little smaller than his home, had everything he needed. Entering the dressing room, Lin Xi selected two suits, along with ties, watches, and other accessories.
The lounge wasn't home, after all; the selection was limited. If he were attending a banquet, there wouldn't be any suitable suits. For business negotiations, however, there were more options. About ten minutes later, Duan Yiheng emerged from the bathroom, wearing a bathrobe.
Lin Xi couldn't look him directly in the eye. Holding two neatly pressed suits, she said, "One is dark gray, the other navy blue. Both are your usual styles. Take a look and see which one you like."
After speaking, Lin Xi waited quietly. Suddenly, the hem of the bathrobe caught her eye, swaying incessantly. She looked up, meeting Duan Yiheng's dark eyes. His breath was close, and Lin Xi instinctively took a half-step back. Duan Yiheng glanced at the suits and asked for her opinion:
"Which one do you think suits you best?" Lin Xi cleared her throat: "Both are suitable, it depends on your preference. Dark gray is more formal than navy blue." Duan Yiheng said, "I really can't choose, can you help me pick one?" Lin Xi pursed her lips:
"Then navy blue, it's a bit somber, it suits your aura." Duan Yiheng took the clothes, his tone clearly teasing: "Why do I feel like you're very nervous?" Lin Xi: "...As long as you don't take a step forward with every sentence, I'm not nervous."
"Oh." Duan Yiheng chuckled, "Sorry, I didn't even notice myself." Lin Xi: "..." You have legs, don't you know? Duan Yiheng took the clothes from her and casually said, "Your ears are red." Lin Xi:
"...I'll go out first." "Tie." Duan Yiheng chuckled. Lin Xi threw the tie that was hanging from her arm directly at his chest, looking somewhat embarrassed and angry. "Make me a cup of coffee," Duan Yiheng said, taking advantage of the situation.
It was all part of his job, so Lin Xi didn't think there was anything wrong with it. The coffee was ready when Qin Yang knocked on the door with breakfast. There were three sandwiches, one of which was for Lin Xi. Lin Xi was surprised: "How did you know I hadn't eaten?" Qin Yang:
"Mr. Duan called me earlier, so I brought it downstairs." "Thank you," Lin Xi said. "Then I'll give you this coffee. I'll go make another one. You and Mr. Duan can eat first." Qin Yang didn't stand on ceremony. Seeing the pile of documents in his arms, Lin Xi said:
"Then you and Mr. Duan can continue with your work. I'll go out now. Could you please take the coffee to him?" "Okay," Qin Yang replied.
Lin Xi returned to her office and began eating her breakfast slowly. After chewing about a third of it, she turned around and saw Qin Yang and Duan Yiheng already discussing work. She immediately sped up her eating. She mentally reviewed the content of today's meeting.
Lin Xi had even mentally rehearsed how Chen Liangyi would handle the situation. At 9:50, a WeChat message popped up: "Don't be nervous, you can do it, believe in yourself." Lin Xi glanced sideways; Duan Yiheng nodded at her.
Five minutes later, Lin Xi got up and headed to the conference room. Unfortunately, she ran into Chen Liangyi at the door. Xu Yu hadn't arrived yet. Chen Liangyi smiled at Lin Xi: "Secretary Lin, good morning." "Good morning," Lin Xi returned the smile, showing no sign of panic.
Chen Liangyi's smile faded, and her gaze turned scrutinizing. Xu Yu just stepped out of the elevator and paused upon seeing them: "What are you two doing standing here? Like doormen?" Lin Xi made way for Xu Yu: "We've been waiting for you." Xu Yu asked her:
"Where's President Duan?" Lin Xi: "President Duan is out negotiating today and can't chair the project meeting. You'll chair it." "Okay," Xu Yu readily agreed. "Let's go in and start the meeting." Lin Xi and Chen Liangyi sat down on either side of Xu Yu.
Before coordinating with the client, the sales department would review the meeting content internally, checking for details, because details determine success or failure. Xu Yu naturally mentioned the technical solution provided to GKD as well.
Chen Jingyi and Lin Xi's eyes met mid-air. Xu Yu suddenly paused and said, "The interface parameters for the payment system seem to contradict the client's previous requirements." She looked at Chen Jingyi: "What's going on?" Chen Jingyi said:
"I had Secretary Lin check it. Secretary Lin, what's going on?"
