She came back to her senses with the uniform still in hand. For a moment, she just sat there, staring at it like it held pieces of someone she used to be.
Slowly, she folded it again.
Carefully this time.
Like she wasn't angry anymore.
Like she understood.
And from there, she realized she had come a long way.
Maybe.. just maybe she could become herself again. Suddenly there was a knock at the door
"Julia?"
Her sister's voice pulled her back.
She turned slightly to see Delise standing by the door, arms folded, eyes soft but searching.
"You still don't wanna tell me?"
Delise asked gently.
Julia stared at her for a while contemplating on whether to tell her or not and then she finally decided
"I will sis"
Delise didn't argue. She got the message, nodded and gave her sister a light pat.
"Alright"
And she left.

Later that evening, their mom watched her from across the room.
Julia was laughing with the kids, playing, smiling—but something about it felt… incomplete.
A mother knows.
"Julia," she called softly.
"Yes, mom?"
Her mom hesitated for a second before speaking.
"You've been different lately."
Julia froze just a little—but recovered quickly.
"I'm just tired, that's all."
Her mom studied her face.
She wanted to ask more.
She wanted to know.
But instead, she simply said
"Alright… just don't carry things alone."
Julia nodded.
And that sentence stayed with her.
****
After spending time with her nephews, she went to her room and the words her mom kept echoing in her mind
" just don't carry things alone".
For a long moment, she sat there
Then stood up.

"Sis?" Julia called softly as she steps into Delise's room.
"Can we talk"
Delise looked at her and understood immediately
She pulled Julia to sit beside her.
No words, no questions
Just patient, encouraging eyes staring at her.
"He made me feel like I mattered," Julia began
"And I held onto that… even when it started hurting."
Her voice broke slightly.
"I thought if I stayed, maybe it would go back to how it was."
Silence.
Then Delise gently took her hand.
"You didn't lose anything," she said. "You just saw the truth."
Julia looked at her.
And for the first time, she believed it.
She hugged her sister tightly
And somehow that hug said everything she couldn't put into words.
****
Back in her room, Julia sat on her bed again.
Her eyes fell on the uniform
The place where everything began
The pain.
The confusion.
But also…
The lesson.
She picked it up, then gently placed it aside.
Not with anger.
Not with sadness.
Just… acceptance.
She looked around her room.
Her home.
Her safe place.
Her present.
And for the first time in a long time…
She felt at peace.
The weight in her chest slowly lifted.
Not all at once.
But little by little.
And as she lay down that night, one thought stayed with her—
She was going to be okay.
