The Astra Union's High Sanctuary was not a dark underground room. It floated high above the clouds. It was a huge hall made of black stone and white marble, with tall arched windows that looked out at the endless sky.
Around the big round table, the rulers of the world sat divided.
Only a few High Seats were actually inside the sanctuary. Sitting at the head of the table was High Elder Sylas Moonshadow, an ancient elf whose face was calm but heavy with years of age. To his right sat Grand Duke Orion Ashford, a broad man in dark armor with sharp steel-red eyes.
Further down sat Cardinal Titus Corvin, silent as a statue with his hand on his sword. Next to him was Lord Caspian von Noctis, leaning back with his fingers pressed together. In the shadows behind them, the living darkness of The Night Stalker blended into the dark.
