Chapter 21 - The Trap!

The Trap!

The Journey Beyond The Absolute

Liora hesitated, her brow furrowing slightly as she spoke. "Well, the truth is," she began, uncertainty lacing her tone, "I cant say that I care for the way she talks at all. It just grates on my nerves her demeanor is so infuriatingly allknowing." The disdain in her voice was palpable, hinting at a deeper frustration.

I leaned in closer, my voice dripping with a dark undertone. "But what if you're wrong, Liora? What happens if she truly is as wise as she claims? What then?" I relished the way the question hung in the air, thick with unspoken implications.

With a heavy sigh, Liora responded, "I suppose I have no valid reason to truly dislike her. But in this moment? I just cant stand her." As her words trailed off, her voice faded into the background noise, like a distant echo, lost in the chaos of swirling thoughts.

I couldnt help but dwell on the weight of her attitude. Azaor, my omniscient companion, seemed to sense the tension as well. His thoughts filtered through my mind, "Did you catch what she said? It almost felt like"

Interrupting him, I mulled over what could have transpired. "I sense their relationship has shifted somehow. They certainly appear to be good friends at face value. What do you think might have happened?"

"What was that?" I murmured darkly, letting the thought linger for a moment. "Only time will reveal the truth. But for now, we need to concentrate on my primary mission. Let's find that elusive material from the Xyraeth and make our swift exit."

"I understand," Azor responded, his assurance grounding me as we moved forward.

Just as I steeled myself for action, Liora's voice perked up again, laced with annoyance. "Did you even hear what I just said?"

I shrugged, my response delivered in a dark tone. "No? Yes?" The uncertainty of my answer seemed to aggravate her more.

She let out an exasperated sigh, revealing her frustration. "You're the worst at times, Ather," she declared, crossing her arms in exasperation.

"Fair enough," I replied, acknowledging her sentiment. "Now then, let's grab the material I need. You can accompany me if you like."

With a heavy sigh, she retorted, "No, thanks," making it clear that her current mood was far from pleasant. She stood there, arms crossed tightly, waiting in resolute silence.

Inwardly, I reflected on her irritation, recognizing that something had affected her deeply. "She's certainly in a sour mood today," I noted to myself, jotting down a mental reminder to figure out how to uplift her spirits later on.

"See you later, Ather," she said, her annoyance seeping through her words as she turned away.

With that, I teleported to the unconscious form of the Xyraeth. My heart raced as I steadied myself this must be the right location. In front of me stood a door, imposing and shrouded in mystery. "Well, here goes nothing," I murmured, my hands trembling slightly as I grasped the handle. With a deep breath, I swung it open. Beyond lay a cavern adorned with ancient symbols that pulsed with an otherworldly energy.

Stepping inside, I stumbled upon a radiant red gem, prominently engraved with the 10th symbol. "This must be the one," I whispered, reaching out eagerly to grasp it in my hands. The moment it touched my skin, I was engulfed by a shimmering haze, teleporting back to where Liora was pacing, clearly growing impatient.

"You're finally done? Good! Let's get moving!" she snapped, her irritation bubbling over.

"Alright then," I replied, keeping my voice steady and maintaining my focus. "Hey Azor, do you happen to know where I can track down the 9th member of the Absolute Ten?"

"Isn't it clear?" Azors voice resonated in my mind. "You need to venture outside the Protopantheon, just like you had to go beyond Anantaxis to locate the 10th entity."

"I see now," I acknowledged, piecing together the clues he provided.

Suddenly, Liora interrupted my thoughts, her tone sharp, "Pay attention!"

"My bad, I'm sorry," I apologized, shaking off the distraction. "But luckily for us, I know exactly where the next member of the Absolute Ten resides."

"Oh? Is that so?" Liora asked, a flicker of curiosity igniting in her eyes. "Where?"

"It's really quite simple. Just hold on tight, alright?" I instructed, keeping my tone steady.

"Fine," she replied with mild annoyance, pulling me into a quick embrace as she hugged my arm tightly.

"Were here now," I declared, teleporting us outside the Protopantheon in a flash.

Before us lay the vast and boundless MetaPleromaa realm where no and any concepts held any relevance, a breathtaking expanse that transcended every conceivable idea or form of logic. In the MetaPleroma, everything we understood about reality was rendered insignificant, stripped down to its bare essence. Even the smallest speck of the MetaPleroma surpassed comparison itself it could transcend beyond transcendence itself, embodying a state of existence that escaped the constraints of any notion we possessed.

All entities, ideas, and dimensions stood as mere shadows against the vastness of the MetaPleroma exceeds beyond absolute infinite. It enveloped everything, including the Protopantheon itself, leaving us standing in a perplexing void where the very fabric of reality shifted beneath our feet.

"We're here, just like that?" Liora said casually, releasing her grip and stepping aside. Her nonchalance was bewildering given the magnitude of where we stood.

"Yes, just like that," I replied, though I felt a touch of weight behind my words. "But it requires immense willpower to accomplish such feats."

Liora raised an eyebrow, the spark of curiosity returning to her expression. "So everything has its price, huh?"

"Correct. And speak of distractions, we need to keep our focus. Let's search for this elusive 9th member already," I suggested, casting my gaze around the shifting void. Yet a nagging intuition prickled my senses. "I feel something is amiss. You can stop hiding now I know youre there."

A mysterious figure emerges slowly from the darkness, cloaked in a black hoodie that obscures much of their identity, while striking red jeans accentuate their presence in a chilling way. As their piercing crimson eyes lock onto mine, I can't help but notice the tousled strands of black hair framing their face. There's a trace of a smirkor is it a grin? Whatever it is, it's unsettling. "Well, well," the figure muses, amusement lingering in their voice, "it's been ages since anyone has managed to perceive me like this. I can't quite recall when that last happened, but it seems like I'll get to enjoy myself today. You see, I don't require a reason to end your life. Your actions must have provoked him beyond imagination, even if I'm still in the dark about what exactly you did to incite his wrath. But instead of him, they sent me, which makes this all the more intriguing."

Beside me, Liora can hardly contain her irritation as she interjects, "Oh great, just what we needbeing stalked by a complete weirdo."

I respond grimly, "It seems you were always in cahoots with someone. All those attacks weren't mere random acts of chaos your employer orchestrated every single move!"

The figure lets out a deep, throaty laugh, almost as if my words amuse them to no end. "So, you've finally connected the dots! But in the end, it doesn't matteryoure going to meet your end either way." This time, they deliberately ignore Liora, as if she's merely an afterthought in their grand scheme of things.

Liora rolls her eyes, sarcasm dripping from her every word. "Oh no, we're in monumental trouble now. Whatever shall we do?"

My expression darkens further as I demand, "I want the name of your bossnow."

Their laughter intensifies, filling the air with chilling energy. "Oh, you're quite comedic! But I'm afraid it's not going to be that simple." Once again, they brush off Lioras snide retorts as if she were nothing more than a gnat buzzing around them.

Annoyed, Liora pipes up, "Hey! Don't you dare ignore me, you jerk!"

"Honestly," the figure says with an impish grin, clearly relishing in their mocking tone. "You're just not worth my time." A flicker of disdain crosses their face as they dismiss her utterly.

Perplexed, I shoot back at the figure, "And who exactly are you anyway?"

With an air of dramatic flair, they introduce themselves, "I go by the name of Veylthor, the Great Manipulator!" The name rolls off their tongue with an arrogance befitting their demeanor, deliberately neglecting Liora's ongoing annoyance.

I narrow my eyes suspiciously. "And what kind of manipulation do you excel at?"

Before I can brace myself, Liora delivers a sharp slap to Veylthor's face, demanding, "Look at me when I'm talking to you!"

Veylthor bursts into laughter, cutting through the tension like a knife. "You're simply not worth my attention. Your willpower is so feeble that I almost didn't even sense it."

Liora's expression shifts from irritation to shock, realizing all too quickly that Veylthor hasn't even flinched at her power. "Ather, watch out! This guy is much tougher than the rest!"

With a sinister grin, Veylthor taunts, "Oh, you'll discover my true abilities soon enough!" And just like that, he lunges forward, throwing a deadly punch directly at me.

"Nice try," I scoff, effortlessly blocking the blow with ease.

Recovering her composure, Liora voices her apprehensions. "Ather is managing to keep up, but I can't help but wonderhow long can he sustain this?"

A wicked grin spreads across Veylthor's face as he deviously declares, "That was merely bait." Before I can react, he executes a swift, instantaneous kick aimed squarely at my face, launching me into an endless abyss known as the MetaPleroma.

Liora gasps, her voice filled with urgency as she screams, "Ather!"

As I'm sent spiraling through this vast expanse, I think to myself, "You hit hard." The impact sends shockwaves through me, causing blood to trickle from a fresh wound on my cheek.

Veylthor's laughter rings mockingly in my ears. "You fell for such a simple trap! It's almost tragic." He makes a sudden sweeping motion to knock my legs out from under me, and in one swift motion, he snatches Liora away before vanishing into thin air.

"Damn you!" I shout in furious desperation. "Liora!!! Noo!!!" I tumble to my knees, anger surging through me like a violent storm. "Just you wait. Whoever is orchestrating this will face the full fury of the Pinnacle!" I clench my fists tightly, my teeth grinding as I vow, "I will save Liora. And when the time comes, I will come for your head. You have truly pushed me too far this time!"

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone, in a colossal castle suspended in the sky, surrounded by enormous golden symbols that twinkle like ominous stars, a shadowed figure leans forward on an incomprehensibly large throne. Her face, obscured in darkness, makes it nearly impossible to discern any features. But one thing is clear she exudes an aura of power that sends shivers down spines.

"Are the preparations complete yet?" Her voice echoes with a commanding authority that reverberates through the very air around her.

From the shadows steps Veylthor, a sly smile playing on his lips. "Yes, ma'am. Everything is ready. We're simply awaiting your command."

A twisted grin spreads across her face, and she bursts into manic laughter, her joy resonating ominously. As the laughter fades, she declares with an air of absolute confidence, "Wonderful! We shall initiate Project The Absolute Void."

Veylthor's curiosity surfaces, and he asks, "How should we deal with Ather, ma'am? It's likely he'll come seeking vengeance."

She returns Veylthor's gaze with a chilling grin. "Ah, that's precisely what I desire. I want him to witness our grand design firsthand. I want him to grasp the futility of his struggles and realize just how helpless he truly is."
