A Contract in the Dark
There happened to be a public restroom nearby, and the two rushed in to wash themselves thoroughly with a hose.
The freezing stream of water blasted over their clothes and skin.
Steffan stood beneath the hose first, gritting his teeth as he scrubbed the stains from his body. The water quickly turned muddy, washing away dirt, blood, and the disgusting filth that had clung to him throughout the sewer escape.
White Ghost wasn't much better.
He desperately rinsed his hair again and again, muttering under his breath.
"I swear... if I ever see another sewer in my life, I'm walking the other way."
Steffan didn't answer.
His face remained gloomy.
The bullet wound in his shoulder still throbbed, and every movement tugged painfully at the knife wound on his backside.
Tonight had been nothing but humiliation.
He silently vowed to make someone pay.
Just then, two young men came to use the restroom.
The pair chatted casually as they walked inside.
