Root Outpost — Edge of the Rain
Deep beneath canvas and timber, in a dimly lit command chamber, Danzō Shimura stood unmoving.
A masked Root operative knelt before him.
"We have lost contact with Squad Kuro-4."
Danzō said nothing.
Then
A faint ripple pulsed across the cursed tongue seals embedded in his operatives.
The suppression mark did more than silence secrets.
It allowed him to feel termination.
Not emotion.
Not pain.
Absence.
Four presences
Gone.
Cleanly severed.
His single visible eye narrowed slightly.
"No distress signal," the kneeling operative added.
"No chakra flare."
That was the part that mattered.
Danzō turned slowly toward the map table.
"Confirm."
The operative performed a rapid verification through relay seals.
"…Confirmed. All four life signatures extinguished."
Silence lingered.
Around him, Leaf jonin stationed at the outpost shifted uneasily.
Some had heard rumors already.
A swordsman in the Rain.
Hunter squads disappearing.
Now Root jonin.
One Leaf captain swallowed.
"Lord Danzō… should we assume Rain interference?"
Danzō's voice cut through the room.. calm and absolute.
"No."
He stepped forward.
"This was targeted."
His mind worked clinically.
• No chakra detection
• No traditional sensory trace
• Operatives killed before triggering failsafes
An unknown variable.
He despised unknown variables.
"Deploy a secondary observation unit," he ordered. "Maintain distance. Do not engage."
"Yes, Lord Danzō."
As the room cleared, he remained alone.
A shinobi without chakra.
Eliminating jonin-level Root.
In a war zone.
His eye darkened slightly.
"If you are a weapon…" he murmured.
"…you will belong to Konoha."
Kill Tally.. System Response
Far from the outpost, unseen by all..
A faint internal pulse echoed within Kyro.
A silent tally updating.
Confirmed Eliminations:
7 Rain Hunter-nin
3 Rain tracking specialists
4 Root Jonin operatives
Total High-Level Shinobi Eliminated: 14
A quiet internal notification surfaced:
War Contribution Points Earned: 4,800
Breakdown:
Hunter-nin (mid-tier): 300 each × 7 = 2,100
Rain trackers: 200 each × 3 = 600
Root Jonin (elite): 525 each × 4 = 2,100
Total Accumulated Points: 6,350
Rain washed blood into gutters.
Kyro did not react to the tally.
But it was growing.
Konohagakure.. Hokage Building
Inside the towering administrative structure of Konohagakure, tension hung heavy.
The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, sat behind his desk, pipe resting idle in his hand.
Reports lay open before him.
An ANBU knelt silently.
"Multiple confirmations from Rain. An unidentified swordsman. No chakra signature detected."
Hiruzen exhaled slowly.
"No chakra?" he repeated.
"None detectable by conventional sensory units."
An advisor spoke cautiously.
"That is impossible."
Hiruzen's eyes sharpened slightly.
"Impossible things tend to exist during war."
He reviewed the casualty list.
Hunter squads.
Tracking teams.
Now Root.
Even without Chakra..
The lethality was undeniable.
"A civilian?" one advisor suggested weakly.
Hiruzen shook his head.
"A civilian does not eliminate seasoned jonin."
He stood and walked toward the window overlooking the village.
"Does he use tools?"
"Blade-based combat primarily. Extreme physical capability. No ninjutsu recorded."
The old Hokage's mind turned.
"If he truly lacks chakra…"
He paused.
"Then genjutsu will fail."
An advisor frowned.
"Ninjutsu suppression barriers?"
"Meaningless if there is no chakra to suppress," Hiruzen replied.
The room quieted.
A shinobi system built entirely on chakra
Facing something outside that framework.
"Is he aligned with Rain?" another asked.
"Unknown."
"Mercenary?"
"Unknown."
Hiruzen's gaze turned thoughtful rather than fearful.
"Or perhaps… something else entirely."
He tapped the report.
"Observe before confrontation. If he is hostile to all factions, he destabilizes the war."
"And if he can be reasoned with?" an advisor asked.
Hiruzen gave a small, measured smile.
"Then perhaps we gain an ally unlike any other."
But his tone hardened slightly.
"If not…"
His eyes flickered with the weight of decades of war.
"Then we prepare contingencies."
Outside, the Will of Fire burned quietly.
In the Rain
A man without chakra was rewriting battlefield equations.
And both shadow and light had taken notice.
Time Skip
The End of the Second Shinobi War
The war that drenched nations in blood eventually burned itself out.. just as it did in canon.
The great villages signed uneasy accords.
The Konohagakure returned to rebuilding.
The Amegakure remained scarred and silent beneath endless rain.
Legends were born during that war.
Among them..
The rise of the Sannin.
And whispers.
Of a blade in the mist.
Of a man without chakra.
Of jonin who vanished without ninjutsu ever being cast.
But without allegiance, without banner, and without proof..
The rumor faded into the underground.
Until
Hokage Office...
A Calculated Move
Inside the Hokage tower, Hiruzen Sarutobi stood before a sealed scroll.
Only two ANBU operatives were present.
"This will not go through official channels," Hiruzen said calmly.
The scroll bore coded insignia tied to the criminal underworld.
The underground bounty exchange network.
"Raise the bounty on the individual known as 'Kyro' by five million ryō."
One ANBU hesitated slightly.
"On what charges, Lord Hokage?"
Hiruzen's expression remained neutral.
"Unverified high-level shinobi killings during wartime."
Technically true.
But incomplete.
The ANBU nodded.
"It will circulate within three days."
Hiruzen added quietly:
"Deploy long-range observation teams. No engagement."
He turned toward the window.
"If bounty hunters pursue him, they will force combat."
Smoke curled from his pipe as he continued.
"And in combat… we will learn."
Genjutsu ineffective?
Chakra null?
Physical enhancement?
Unknown energy source?
Every battle would reveal something.
"If he is a weapon," Hiruzen murmured to himself, echoing Danzō's earlier thought from afar..
"Then we must understand him."
LAND OF HOT SPRINGS
Months Later
The air was warmer here.
Steam rose from natural vents along forested paths.
Kyro walked quietly along a stone road.
He was now 16 years old.
His frame had matured Further.. lean muscle hardened into defined, controlled power.
His movements were economical.
Balanced.
His presence calm.. but dangerous.
Floating beside him was Miku.
In fae terms, she was over 300 years old.
But in human maturity..
She appeared no older than a teenage girl.
Delicate.
Bright-eyed.
Curious.
Her wings shimmered faintly in the warm light.
She spun mid-air lazily.
"I like it here," she said cheerfully. "It smells alive."
Kyro glanced at her.
"You just like the hot springs."
She grinned.
"…Maybe."
But beneath the peaceful moment—
Kyro felt it.
A faint system prompt.
> Bounty Increased: +5,000,000 Ryō
Increased hostile activity probability: 68%
He smirked faintly.
"So they're testing me now.. ."
Miku tilted her head.
"Who?"
"The leaf... But it Doesn't matter."
That evening, inside a concealed resting area deep in the forest, Kyro accessed the system interface.

Kyro materialized the three crystalline vials.
The red dragon summon manifested first... currently still in its juvenile stage.
Small but already powerful.
It growled curiously.
"This will push you forward," Kyro said.
The dragon sniffed the vial, then swallowed it in one gulp.
Its body immediately glowed red-hot.
Scales brightened.
It let out a low rumbling roar...
Then dissolved into system light.
Dormancy Initiated: 365 Days Remaining
Miku hovered closer.
"…A whole year?"
"He'll return stronger."
She nodded slowly.
Then looked at the other two vials.
Her wings fluttered faster.
"Are those…?"
Kyro held one out.
"For your third evolution."
She took it gently.
Her expression shifted... less playful now.
More serious.
She drank.
Light burst outward in a contained wave.
The forest responded.
Grass bent toward her.
Steam thickened around her form.
Her wings expanded slightly, gaining layered crystalline filaments.
Her magic signature deepened.
The second vial appeared in Kyro's hand.
Miku looked at him.
"You're sure?"
"Yes."
She drank again.
This time
The transformation was quieter.
More refined.
Her body elongated slightly... more elegant proportions.
Her glow softened into something ethereal.
Her hair shimmered with faint silver undertones.
The air itself reacted subtly.
Leaves rustled toward her presence.
Small flowers bloomed near her feet without command.
When she opened her eyes
They shimmered like polished opal.
And when she looked at Kyro
Even he felt the faint pull of her enhanced glamour aura.
Anyone weaker would have fallen into a trance within seconds.
She blinked.
"…Kyro?"
Her voice carried layered resonance now.
He studied her calmly.
"Control it."
She inhaled.
The aura dimmed slightly.
"Better?" she asked.
"Yes."
She floated down slowly, examining her hands.
"I can feel the forest breathing…"
She closed her eyes briefly
And steam from a nearby hot spring spiraled toward her like it was greeting royalty.
A White Elf-tier fae.
Ancient.
Potent.
Beautiful beyond natural limits.
She looked back at him with a soft smile.
"I won't let anyone hunt you."
Kyro adjusted his blade at his hip.
"They can try."
Somewhere in the underground market..
His bounty circulated.
And soon...
The first wave of hunters would arrive.
But they would not be facing the same Kyro.
Nor the same Miku.
