Ary had sent the men flying, giving her a chance to get to the deer. It let out many bleats and grunts, and Ary used a trap spell that could hold the deer still, keeping it from swinging its head around and possibly hitting Ary with its antlers. Ary got to the deer's trapped leg. She cast a levitation spell, but struggled to lift the debris from its leg. Ary managed to remove the rocks and heavy rubble and began healing the deer's leg. The trap spell wore off, and Ary moved away from the deer quickly. The deer stood back up, swinging its head around, then settled after a while. It looked at its back leg, then at Ary. She stayed still and let the deer settle down. It slowly made its way to Ary. She stayed still, watching the creature, but not looking into its eyes to avoid making it aggressive. The deer sniffed her face, nudging its nose against Ary's face. Ary stayed still, letting the deer get used to her scent and no longer see her as a threat. The deer then licked her forehead and turned, angling its body to allow her to climb on.
"Thank you," Ary said, careful as she climbed on the deer. The deer stood up, carrying Ary, and began walking through the woods. "I guess you need a name, unless you have one."
The deer let out a grunt, moving its head up and down like a nod.
"Okay, so you understand me. Uh, let's make this simple," Ary said as the deer carried her through the woods. "Does your name start with a vowel?"
The deer shook its head side to side while walking as it walked.
"Okay, no vowel." Ary thought for a while. "Okay, is your name like a common human name?"
The deer shook its head.
"Okay," Ary took a moment. "Is it a girl's name?"
The deer made a bleat noise. That didn't notify her, yes or no.
"Okay, so I guess that's a maybe," Ary said, then she just started to list off names based on no vowels being the starting letter. "Okay, so what about B?"
The deer shook its head no.
"Okay, what about C?" she asked, and the deer shook its head. "Okay, D?"
The deer shook its head.
"Alright, F?" she asked as the deer continued to travel with her on its back. The deer shook its head. "Okay, this is going to be a while. The next few, I am just going to say, and you shake your head based on the number of letters I say. Good?"
The deer nodded its head.
"Okay," Ary said, then started listing them off slowly so she wouldn't get tongue-tied. "G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z?"
The deer shook its head eleven times.
"Okay, S," Ary took a moment to think about what the deer's name is. "Okay, let me think."
"Okay, what about Stella?" Ary asked, and the deer shook its head. "What about Sophie?"
The deer shook its head.
"What about Serinity?" She asked, and the deer nodded this time. "Okay, Serinity."
Before long, Serinity brought Ary to a big town after the deer made a huffing noise. The closest one from Ary's tower. The deer made its way past the front gate. Others in the town noticed and looked at Ary and the deer curiously. The deer kept walking, carrying Ary on its back until it came to an enchantment's trades shop with an open front instead of a door. Arly dropped down from the deer's back and fixed her hat on her head, holding her staff. Serinity huffed, shaking its head.
"Thanks, Serinity," Ary said. Serinity didn't leave, just stood there watching Ary. And she went inside the shop. She knew she couldn't do much without money, so getting some hotspot jobs would be a great start. If they even take her on for the jobs, they need to be done. Ary looked around in the shop. Many items in the shop were potions and enchanted wares. There was a man at the front, wearing a cloak and a plague doctor mask.
"Anything specific, my dear?" The man asked.
"Yes, actually," Ary said, making her way to the counter. "I was looking for some work to get some practice in with magic."
"Ah, a new wizard," the man said, then went into a back room for something. "Wait here a moment."
Ary watched him go, holding her staff close to her person. She was curious about what tasks were needed and what her first job would be. The man came back, a few scrolls in his arms. He set them all out for Ary to look at.
"Have a look, these are all of different levels of magic." The man said, then left her to look over the papers. Ary unrolled a scroll and took a look at one of them. It was a job on clearing out a cave of knom gollums. They are a short type of man-made gollum creature. Ordinary gollums are made with rogue magic, or magic that had gone haywire and seeped into minerals, materials, even bodies of the deceased, bringing them to life, like flesh and blood. It isn't easy, but it can help increase Ary's abilities.
