BWDC:SDDK Chapter 82: So, You Admit You Stole the Bombs?

Ren Ichimonji's silhouette appeared on the outskirts of Teiji Moriya's estate.

With just a single glance at the exterior of the residence, he could tell that this building, much like Beika Park, was perfectly symmetrical. Furthermore, he spotted numerous security guards patrolling the grounds of the Moriya manor.

Clearly, Teiji Moriya seemed quite concerned about his personal safety.

Or perhaps, he was very worried that someone might enter his home and discover his secrets.

Ren's gaze quickly swept over every corner near the perimeter wall. ] [ After checking for any nearby surveillance cameras, he immediately went into motion.

With a light press of his hands, Ren vaulted directly over the wall.

He landed without making a sound.

Ren then proceeded toward the interior of the property. Along the way, he kept a constant eye on the time displayed on his wristwatch.

He needed to ensure he could complete the entire process of this late-night estate visit before midnight arrived.

Otherwise, his one-minute "Batman State" for the day provided by the special coffee would go to waste.

While it wouldn't be the end of the world if he didn't use the coffee's special effects, not using something available always felt like a bit of a loss.

Tap, tap, tap. The sound of footsteps approached from not far away.

Ren's hand brushed over a hidden compartment in the utility belt Dr. Agasa had prepared for him.

The next moment, a black cape was pulled out, draping over his body. He blended perfectly into the shadows of a nearby tree trunk, causing the two patrolling security guards to pass by without noticing anything unusual.

Once the guards were far away, Ren flicked his cape and headed toward the main villa of the small estate.

Like many other villa owners who valued their personal privacy, Teiji Moriya had not installed any surveillance cameras inside the villa.

This was a rather dangerous oversight.

If a thief were to break in or if someone had ill intentions, Teiji Moriya would have no means of resistance!

However, the "good friend" of Beika City's citizens—Batman—was about to help Moriya remedy this flaw.

He helped Teiji Moriya install some monitors.

Shh. Accompanied by the nearly imperceptible sound of a door opening, the door to the villa's study was pushed ajar.

Ren withdrew his gloved hand and quietly closed the study door behind him.

His eyes scanned every corner of the room, finally coming to rest on the desk.

The surface of the desk was covered with various books on architecture.

However, the most eye-catching items were the blueprints.

These were blueprints for buildings Teiji Moriya had designed in his early years.

Among them was the Beika City Building, which had been mentioned in the movie's plot.

It was obvious that Moriya wasn't looking through these early designs out of nostalgia.

He was simply searching for the most effective demolition points for his upcoming bombing campaign.

Ren's gaze lingered on the blueprints.

He wondered: if the explosives reported stolen in the news were indeed taken by Teiji Moriya, where would they be hidden now? He hadn't found any trace of them in the other rooms of the villa.

Suddenly, Ren's ears twitched.

He heard footsteps coming from outside the door.

Teiji Moriya pushed open the study door.

Flicking on the lights, he approached the desk once more to examine his early designs, appearing deep in thought.

As for Ren's presence in the room, he was completely unaware of it.

He simply continued to contemplate how to use those bombs to exact his revenge.

He was utterly oblivious to the fact that his home had been turned into a sieve by someone else's bugs and trackers, unable to hide a single shred of information.

"Curse you, Kudo Shinichi!"

Moriya muttered under his breath.

At the mention of the name Kudo Shinichi, a raging fire of anger ignited in Moriya's eyes.

The reason was simple.

He had served as the chief architect for the West Tama City New Town project. However, the mayor of West Tama City was arrested for murder after being exposed by Kudo Shinichi. This led to the abandonment of the blueprints Moriya had poured his heart and soul into.

That was the pinnacle of his architectural art, yet it had been tossed into the trash like common refuse. How could he not be furious?

Teiji Moriya was determined to make Kudo Shinichi pay.

He would destroy the asymmetrical buildings he had designed in his youth and link it all to Kudo Shinichi, ruining the boy's reputation and stripping him of his most precious things!

"When May 3rd arrives, it will be the end for Kudo Shinichi!"

Moriya said through gritted teeth.

Ren heard every word.

A question mark popped up in Ren's mind.

May 3rd? How many days away was that? ] [ Wait a minute, did you just say Kudo Shinichi's end is coming?

Ren thought for a moment.

Getting a sudden spark of inspiration, he took a simple Batman voice changer from his belt. After a quick adjustment, he held it in front of him, quietly moved behind Teiji Moriya, and whispered:

"Are you sure the amount of explosives will be enough?"

"If the dose isn't sufficient, it would be quite troublesome if the Beika City Building doesn't come down."

Moriya didn't even realize the voice was coming from directly behind him.

He let out a cold sneer and replied subconsciously, "If made into plastic explosives, the amount is more than enough to level the Beika City Building!"

"Next, I just need to—"

Teiji Moriya: ?

Wait a second. Wasn't the source of that voice a bit... off?

Before Moriya could say another word, a hand landed firmly on his shoulder.

Then, Ren's voice spoke in a low, gravelly tone:

"So, you admit you stole the bombs?"

---The plan had changed.

Why bother with bugs and monitors?

To hell with that. I'll just beat Teiji Moriya up, make him spit out the location of the bombs, and then report him to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Won't Moriya be rotting in a cell then?

Why am I making this so complicated?

Once the thought occurred to him, the world suddenly felt much simpler!

Ren raised his hand and fired.

An anesthetic needle specially made by Dr. Agasa instantly sent Teiji Moriya into a peaceful sleep.

With one hand, Ren took out a coffee cup from a hidden compartment in his utility belt and downed it in one go.

With the other hand, he pulled out a "kindly" physical sword—a crowbar—from the compartment.

Next, it was interrogation time.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.

Inspector Megure was just about to pack his things and head home when he received a call transferred from the operator.

With the slight irritability that comes with overtime, Inspector Megure picked up the receiver and was about to ask what was going on.

Then, he heard the voice on the other end.

"This is Teiji Moriya."

"I stole the explosives from the warehouse. I have hidden them in... warehouse, and converted them all into plastic explosives. I plan to use them to blow up several locations, including the Tokyo Loop Line and the Beika City Building."

"If you're capable enough, come find me at... warehouse!"

Inspector Megure: ?

Wait, buddy, this is a public safety matter. Shouldn't this be under the jurisdiction of the Security Bureau?

And since when are criminals this arrogant?

Isn't this a bit much?
