Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: I Can Do a Tiny Bit of Everything

Alex deliberately teased Lin Aida with his words, absolutely not to trick her into doing any strange exercise.

It was for the sake of bringing the two of them closer. After all, if he wanted Caitlin to take him to other universes in the future, they naturally needed to build a fairly intimate relationship.

A man who is overly serious finds it hard to get close to women, let alone deepen the relationship.

Of course, constantly spouting nonsense and cracking jokes all day does not work either.

That is just being a hooligan.

Knowing when to stop, and occasionally throwing in a joke to lighten the mood at the right time, that is called humor. You could also say it is a kind of personal charm.

Alex handled this very well. After telling a joke that made Lin Aida blush, he stood up and said, "Where is the microwave? I will fix it for you."

Lin Aida said in surprise, "You can fix microwaves too?"

Alex shamelessly replied, "More or less. Household appliances and stuff, I can do a tiny bit of everything."

The two went into the kitchen. Alex scanned the internal structure of the microwave and found it was just a minor fault.

He asked Lin Aida for some tools and, after 10 minutes, fixed the microwave.

"Try it."

Alex put the microwave back in place, plugged it in, and stepped aside.

Lin Aida felt her way forward. By accident, she touched Alex's chest.

At once, she felt his strong heartbeat and the powerful muscles across his broad chest. The girl's breathing grew a little uneven.

Alex openly took her hand and led her to the microwave.

Lin Aida's ears turned red, "Thank you."

Seeing her like this, Alex became even more certain that she rarely interacted with men.

You could tell not only from her physical condition, but also from her current mental state.

Lin Aida pressed the microwave buttons and heard the beep. She said happily, "Mr. John, you are amazing."

"If something breaks at my place in the future, can I trouble you?"

'See? The distance just shortened, did it not?'

Alex casually replied, "Of course."

"But to be honest, what I am best at is not fixing household appliances."

Lin Aida asked curiously, "What are you best at fixing?"

Alex smiled but did not answer.

Keeping someone curious and maintaining a sense of mystery was also one of the ways to get closer to the opposite sex. [T/N: Taking notes.]

Alex glanced at the time, "It is getting late. I will not disturb your rest. Go to bed early, and remember to close all the windows."

"Actually, I will do it."

In just a few moves, he closed all the living room windows, then walked to the door and reminded her again, "Remember to lock the door."

Lin Aida nodded repeatedly like a student, "Okay, I know."

See, after a little mystery, then showing some warmth and care, the feeling naturally heats up.

Alex smiled and walked out of Lin Aida's apartment. Then he opened his own rented apartment and deliberately made the sound of unlocking louder so Lin Aida could hear it.

After closing the door, Alex turned on the TV and threw himself onto the sofa. His eyes lit up.

In his vision, the walls became transparent. In an instant, his gaze passed through several walls and saw Lin Aida in the bathroom.

She was taking a shower.

Rising steam, glistening water droplets, her beautiful collarbone.

The scene was too beautiful.

But Alex did not linger.

Just a glance, then he pulled back.

He was only scanning to check whether there was any danger in Lin Aida's home. He was not a peeping freak.

If he wanted to look, he would look openly. Sneaking around was beneath him.

After confirming there were no dangerous factors in Lin Aida's home, Alex opened the window and flew away silently.

At the same time—

[St. Maria Mercy Hospital]

Inside the neonatal intensive care unit.

A hand picked up a bag filled with blue liquid medicine.

"My God, look what I found," The owner of the hand, a burly tanned man, waved at his companion in the distance, "Butcher, you should take a look at this."

A figure stepped out.

He was wearing battle armor. He tapped his visor, and a rough face with a thick beard appeared behind it.

Butcher looked at the blue liquid hanging from the infant incubator and gave a crooked smile, "Finally found this bloody stuff."

"Frenchie did well. From the clues provided by the woman, he discovered something was wrong with the so-called 'polio vaccine' charity shipment."

"As expected, this is not any charity package."

"It is all damn Compound V!"

At that moment, the baby inside the incubator opened its eyes. Blue light flickered in them, and two blue laser beams shot out, but they were blocked by the incubator glass and caused no damage.

"Look at these little devils."

Butcher raised his head and smiled, "They are nothing like what Vought advertises. Not some chosen ones, not God's blessing."

"They are monsters made by Vought using this drug!"

He took out a syringe device, inserted it into the bag of "Compound V," and began drawing a sample.

But just then, he heard footsteps in the corridor outside.

The security system Vought had set up in the hospital had been triggered.

———

Because of the recent rise in approval ratings, and the federal government's promise of an official position and military rank, with Alex's consent, the public relations department of the Seven Tower finally announced that The Seven would resume hero activities.

Three days passed in the blink of an eye.

During these three days, crime in New York showed a clear downward trend.

Especially cases involving superpowered criminals, which dropped sharply.

Yet there were still those bold enough to openly challenge Homelander's authority. Like right now, Alex was flying toward the city center.

At an orphanage in the city, criminals had taken hostages. Because some of them were superhumans, the police requested assistance from the Seven Tower.

Alex did not rush there at full speed. His communicator rang. It was a call from the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

They said that this Friday, they would officially announce Alex's appointment as a Defense Department official and the awarding of the rank of colonel.

On the night Manhattan fell, Alex had been very restrained and did not make excessive demands.

For example, the rank of general.

Although given the situation at the time, if Alex had asked, the Federation would have had no choice but to agree.

But that would have forced the Federation to stand on the same side as Vought.

Now was not the time to completely tear relations apart with the Federation.

What Alex was thinking about more now was how to improve his strength and raise his life level.

He believed that Level 5, the extraordinary tier, would not be his endpoint.

It was just that he did not yet know how to raise his life level.

Perhaps upgrading all talents two or three more times?

At that moment, Alex had already seen the orphanage. He scanned it.

He found that the criminals were quite arrogant. All the hostages were gathered in the activity room, guarded by only two criminals.

The other criminals were gathered in the front yard, confronting the police.

Alex narrowed his eyes slightly and suddenly accelerated, crashing toward the orphanage activity room like a meteor.
