[Daily Planet]
Lois Lane stood by the window, looking at Metropolis under the night sky.
"Clark, where did you go?", she said softly.
At this moment, she heard the newspaper's boss shouting, "Can someone tell me why it wasn't our reporters who captured this video first?"
"Damn it! This is explosive news!"
"A Kryptonian has appeared in Metropolis, and you people knew nothing about it."
'Kryptonian?'
Lois turned around and saw that the television in the hall was playing a piece of footage.
In that video, a man wearing a plaid shirt shot golden lasers from his eyes and cut a truck into two halves.
Lois couldn't help covering her mouth.
The chief editor, an african-american man in his forties, walked over and waved his hand in front of Lois's eyes.
"Hey, are you alright?"
Lois came back to her senses and quickly shook her head.
Then she said, "I'm not feeling well. I'll head back first."
Lois went upstairs, took out her phone, and dialed a number, but it could not connect.
She put down the phone and looked up at the sky.
Softly she said, "Clark, you need to come back."
"Something's wrong."
"Very wrong."
"A man suspected to be a Kryptonian has just appeared in Metropolis."
At this moment, a gust of wind blew past.
It messed up Lois's hair, then flew up into the sky, flying toward the distance.
———
Morning came.
Lying on the bed, Alex examined the information appearing on his retina.
[You have actively triggered a Multiverse Event.]
[Event Name: Dawn of Justice.]
[Description: After the Battle of Metropolis caused by the Kryptonians, the conflict between Batman and Superman intensifies. Superman, who possesses a heart of justice, becomes a god walking among humans, yet it arouses the jealousy of Lex Luthor. A conspiracy is brewing. At the darkest moment before dawn, you descend upon this world. What kind of variables will you bring?]
[Event Requirement: None.]
[Note: You may act freely. When you leave this universe, the event will end. Your actions during the event will be evaluated, and rewards will be issued.]
'Multiverse event.'
'No requirements at all?'
'That's really interesting.'
'An event like this actually exists?'
At this moment, Alex's ears caught some sounds. He walked to the window and looked outside the town.
On the road outside the town, police lines had been set up. Police car lights were flashing, and it seemed they were conducting inspections.
Alex smiled.
"They found their way here."
"The military of this universe wouldn't be planning to come cause me trouble, would they?"
He rubbed his chin.
"Or maybe they've mistaken me for a Kryptonian?"
Alex looked toward the wall. His eyes lit up, and the wall instantly disappeared from his vision.
Then he saw Caitlin, and from her breathing and heartbeat he could tell the girl was still asleep.
Alex smiled, opened his inventory, and took out the "Black Bat Circus Coin."
He flicked the coin with the bat emblem into the air. When the coin fell, it was caught by a hand.
A rough hand.
A member of the Black Bat Circus, the Stone Man.
The other one was a woman standing on a leather ball, the Replicator.
Alex looked at them.
"Just two? The clown leader didn't appear? Whatever... it's not a big problem."
He looked toward the next room.
"You two stay on standby here and protect Caitlin."
He had absolute control over the summoned circus members, so he wasn't worried that these two would slack off.
After giving the order, Alex took off his coat, revealing the pitch-black battle suit he wore underneath, Black Lightning.
Then he silently floated out the window, rose into the air, and suddenly accelerated, leaving the town.
Outside the town, inside a truck that looked quite ordinary and was currently undergoing inspection.
Inside the cargo compartment, however, there were rows of computers, and soldiers in military uniforms were busily typing on keyboards.
At this moment someone shouted,
"Target No.1 has left the town!"
"Target No.1 is flying at supersonic speed. We've lost his position!"
A colonel turned around and shouted, "Use satellite positioning. Quickly, find him immediately."
"You, notify General Achir at the Pentagon. Target No.1 has left the town. Target No.2 is still in the town. Ask the general for the latest instructions."
The wind roared.
Alex suddenly stopped.
Then he descended toward the ground.
This was a desert. Alex stood on a sand dune and suddenly felt the urge to urinate.
After relieving himself on the spot, he heard intense roaring sounds in the sky.
Soon after, two rapidly moving shadows appeared on the desert.
Whoosh!
A gust of sand and wind swept past Alex. Right above his head, two F-15 fighter jets flew past.
After the fighter jets flew away, Alex saw that on the desert highway in the distance, a convoy was approaching in great numbers.
That convoy consisted of many light off-road military vehicles, along with some tanks and armored vehicles.
The convoy advanced through the rising heat waves until it reached a place not far from Alex before stopping.
Soon after, Alex heard a broadcast from the convoy.
["Person on the sand dune, listen up. I am General Achir. You have violated the laws of our country. Now I hope you will surrender."]
Alex couldn't help laughing.
"I have to say, Superman really is too gentle."
"So gentle that these ants completely fail to understand their own place."
"Fine. Since Superman won't teach you, then let me give you a lesson."
Alex's feet left the ground as he began rising.
On the highway, inside a command vehicle, General Achir saw Target No.1 rising into the sky.
He immediately shouted, ["I order you to come down!"]
["Otherwise, you will be classified as a threat!"]
Alex ignored him completely. He rose higher and higher into the air, standing beneath the rising morning sun, looking down at the earth like a god.
Looking at that ridiculous army.
"Ants, what makes you think you have the right to command a god?"
"Now I'll give you a chance."
"Disappear from in front of me, and never appear again."
"That way you can stay alive, and from the bottom of your hearts, thank me for my mercy."
"Madman," General Achir said in a deep voice, "The target is extremely dangerous. I authorize the use of lethal force."
Although the general didn't speak loudly, unfortunately it couldn't escape Alex's ears.
The corner of Alex's mouth lifted. Soon he caught the sound of the F-15 fighter jets breaking through the air.
Two F-15 fighter jets rapidly approached. Their weapon systems locked onto the target, and the pilots were about to launch missiles.
Suddenly, a beam of golden light shot from the distance, instantly lighting up the cockpit.
On the ground, General Achir only heard brief screams coming from the communicator. Then two fireballs rose in the distance.
In front of the exploding flames, the black figure in the sky turned around. Two golden lights shone from his eyes like miniature suns, making the general's scalp go numb.
He roared, "FIRE!"
Immediately, the convoy on the ground unleashed gunfire and artillery. Countless bullets and shells were sent into the sky, continuously bombarding the black figure that looked like a demon.
Violent explosions erupted around Alex's body. But whether bullets or shells, none could break through the "force field barrier" in front of him.
Alex's gaze pierced through the artillery fire and thick smoke, landing on the convoy on the ground.
Then his eyes lit up. Two blazing golden beams shot through the air, instantly reaching the ground and rapidly sweeping forward along the highway.
Wherever the "heat vision" passed, violent explosions erupted one after another.
Military vehicles, human bodies, rocks, plants, all were blasted into the air, then turned into charred remains under the burning flames.
Just as the golden beams were about to sweep across General Achir's position, suddenly a dark figure descended from the sky.
Then it stretched out both hands and blocked the golden stream of light.
