Chapter 9 - mistake

Ved broke the kiss as if he had been burned.

Anvi.

Her name echoed inside his head like a curse.

He stepped back, breathing hard, eyes dark with disgust—mostly for himself. He turned away from Kashvi and collapsed onto the sofa, the bottle already in his hand.

Why did I lose control?

I am Anvi's. I have always been.

Then why does Kashvi's presence shake me like this?

He drank without counting. Without stopping. The room tilted, his thoughts rotted, and the guilt blurred into rage.

Behind him, Kashvi stirred awake.

Her head throbbed. Her body felt heavy, unfamiliar. She stood on unsteady feet and walked toward him, drawn by something she didn't fully understand—hope, fear, or maybe just the need to be seen.

Ved looked up.

And saw Anvi.

The illusion was cruel.

He grabbed Kashvi's wrist and pulled her down onto his lap with force, as if afraid she might disappear. His grip was tight—possessive, desperate. His mouth crashed onto hers, rough and reckless, like he was punishing himself through her.

There was no tenderness.

Only urgency.

Only loss of control.

Kashvi didn't stop him.

Maybe she couldn't.

Maybe she didn't want to.

Clothes were discarded without care, emotions unraveling faster than reason. What followed wasn't passion—it was two broken people drowning in alcohol, crossing a line neither of them had the strength to see anymore.

Ved lifted her and carried her to the bed.

The darkness closed in, swallowing their mistake whole.

The night didn't judge.

It only watched.

Next Morning

Ved woke up with a pounding head and a sick feeling crawling up his spine.

Then he saw her.

Kashvi.

Curled against him.

Exposed. Silent. Real.

The memory slammed into him all at once.

"What the hell—" His voice cracked with disgust as he shoved her away and stood up.

Kashvi woke with a sharp gasp. One look at herself—and she screamed.

Ved reacted instantly, clamping his hand over her mouth.

"Are you insane?" he hissed. "Do you want the entire house to hear?"

Her eyes filled with tears. Her body trembled.

"Why?" she whispered, breaking down. "Why do you do this to me, Ved? You say you hate me… then why destroy me like this?"

Ved looked away, jaw clenched, shame dripping from every word.

"Don't act like a victim," he said bitterly. "You could have stopped it too. We were both drunk. None of this was planned."

But even as he said it, his eyes betrayed him.

He knew.

Kashvi said nothing more. She grabbed her clothes with shaking hands and ran toward the bathroom, sobbing so hard it felt like her chest might tear apart.

Ved turned toward the bed.

And froze.

Blood.

His stomach dropped.

His hands clenched into fists.

"She was untouched…"

The realization poisoned him.

This wasn't just a mistake.

It was destruction.

He walked into the other bathroom, the weight of his actions suffocating him—knowing that no matter how hard he tried, this sin would never wash off.
