Chapter 7 - Woodley 2

After Pip was rested with food and water, Darrius felt like looking around the little town of Woodley. He wanted to see what it was about before taking the trail to Ann's and back to his motel. He strolled through town, looking at the local shops. Ann had offered Darrius dinner that night and he wanted to walk up an appetite. As he walked the crooked streets Darrius heard some grunge rock coming from an auto shop. He decided it was alright in the quaint town of Woodley.

There were a couple of younger and older men tinkering in some sort of mechanics shop.

Darrius let Pip stay outside next to his bike and walked into the open shop. The owner greeted him shortly after walking in.

"Hi, I'm Gerard!" He was middle aged man, about forty, with a warm smile. Gerard has dirt smudges across his face from working. "We do all sorts of mechanic work here." Getard explained, "It's definitely not just a vehicle shop." Small square glasses balanced on the end of his nose as he looked around.

He explained together, with the employees of the shop, the group loved to repair and build novelty toys. Gerard claimed his family had a very extensive history of working in the field of mechanics.

After a while of visiting the small shop Darrius decided he and Pip were ample ready to hit some trails and grab dinner with Ann.

Thing was Darrius didn't realize the darker clouds rolling into the grey sky. It was already getting dim.

As Darrius peddled he felt Ann's place had been closer to Woodley than Bledsford. Hadn't he been riding in the area looking for her long enough? He looked for the strange rock formation or something familiar to signal he'd arrived.

What felt like another twenty or thirty minutes seemed to pass. He should've arrived by now? Darrius recalled she had been standing in a flat clearing surrounded by mountain walls. There seemed to be some resemblance of an entrance to the mountainside.

Would a person really live there??

A feeling of being lost overcame Darrius. The rumble of thunder sounded in the distance. He wasn't sure which direction the rock formation was anymore.

It surely wasn't far from the bike trail was it?

The sun was getting lower in the sky. Pip whined and Darrius looked down with sympathy at his dark companion.

"You wanna go home Pip?"

Pip barked a confirmation and the two departed back to Bledsford.

"Ann will just have to wait till tomorrow." Darrius said to Pip.
